The COVID-19 outbreak has changed how we travel, but it hasn't halted our love of exploring. Here are a few tips on how to deal with the new challenges of travelling:

• Before locking in your flight, find out if any travel restrictions or bans apply — in both your destination and origin. Stay informed with the latest updates by checking government websites.
• When you pass through airport screening, keep your face mask on. You will be required to lower it briefly for identification purposes. Travellers who refuse to wear a mask may be fined and denied entry.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA officer. Instead, position your pass on the reader and then hold it up so the agent can inspect it.
• TSA is now permitting passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will have to be removed from your bag to be screened.
• Place any personal items (phone, wallet and keys for example) in your carry-on rather than a bin to reduce handling during the screening process.
• Separate any food you're carrying for screening. Putting it in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA employee to handle and inspect your belongings.
