The room itself was clean enough, and very spacious for a single room. Location was also good, a very short walk to the harbour. However, all of the construction made it difficult to find the entrance to the building and my room, which was only accessible by stairs. It should also be noted that there was seemingly two toilets and one shower for the entire floor. I don’t think I’ll be coming back here, just pay the extra money for a proper hotel.

I love that the hostel is less than 10 minute walk to all the interesting sites in Bergen. The website indicated that there’s a hair dryer in the bathroom but there’s none. Our room has a refrigerator, electric tea pot some plates fork and spoon and a gas range but there’s no pots and pans so it might not be functional. It would be nice to have at least one or two chairs inside the room. And finally, the room was cold. I increased the heat in the room but it didn’t work. Overall, it was still a good choice since it’s located centrally.

No access code provided to get in. Place in under complete construction with building materials everywhere. It’s dirty. Toilet on our level leaked and floor was wet am the time.

Damn good job it was cheap

Well let’s just say the photos bear zero resemblance to reality. The place is undergoing major refurbishment and has potential to be great but right now it’s pretty poor. Exterior is covered in scaffold so finding it is hard. The ‘foyer’ was just a building materials store. The lift is very old. The rooms on our floor were mostly being refurbished but with the soft furnishings still inside. The bathroom nearest our room was so awful I decided I wouldnt be washing for 3 days but I found a better bathroom further away so go look. Had kitchen facilities to store cold food, cook, make a hot drink but it’s like student digs. The floors in our section were very ‘ hollow’ so you heard everyone coming and going. On the upside the location is great for the train station and harbour. The double glazing means outside noise is minimal and the beds were comfy but seriously it’s a damn good job the place was cheap compared to other Bergen places or I’d be asking for my money back.

Didn’t get code and dirty

Despite being advised we would receive codes 24 hours prior to check in, we did not. It’s completely self check in so we couldn’t even get into the building, another traveller finally let us in and several families were inside in the same sitation, someone let them in the building but they didn’t know what room they were in or the code to get their key. I walked to other Budgetel buildings and someone said they had the same experience with their building and gave me a number to call. I couldn’t call as I didn’t have a plan for Norway, but someone else who was waiting did have a plan so we used it to call, a lady said she would come down and help us. She finally got everyone’s keys sorted out. We were down a hallway that looked like it should be condemned off the main hallway. Ceiling and walls peeling and caving in, floors coming up. We got into our room, my bed and blanket were covered in what looked like dog hair and there was used toilet paper between my bed and the wall. The bathroom and shower in our hallway looked straight out of a nightmare, however if we went to the main hallway they were in much better condition. There was 0 noise protection, you could hear everything! Overall worst place I have stayed.

A Deeply Disappointing Stay

I would strongly advise avoiding this hotel. Despite booking a specific room, I was given something entirely different on arrival, with no explanation and no option to change. The condition of the room was shocking: beard trimmings left in the sink, faeces still visible on the toilet bowl, and a shower basin that clogged within minutes, leaving me standing in dirty water. These are not minor oversights but fundamental failures in cleanliness and maintenance. When I raised these concerns with staff, the response was dismissive and unhelpful. No effort was made to resolve the issues or offer an alternative room. For a hotel, the bare minimum should be to provide guests with a clean, sanitary environment and basic customer service. Neither was present here. The atmosphere this created was deeply unsettling. A hotel should feel like a safe and comfortable place to return to, but instead I felt ignored, uncomfortable, and frankly vulnerable. This is particularly concerning for women travelling alone, who deserve assurance that their accommodation will meet acceptable standards of hygiene and safety. For the price charged, the experience was unacceptable and left me feeling cheated. Until the management addresses these fundamental issues—cleaning, maintenance, and customer care—I cannot recommend this hotel under any circumstances.

Etablissement très bien situé mais fait de "bric et broc" : Le linge de lit était propre mais la propreté du reste de l'établissement était moyenne et la chambre tout comme une partie de l'hôtel ressemblait plutôt à un chantier. Une cuisine à dispo dans la chambre mais aucun équipement. Le matelas du 4ème lit était clairement indécent

Hotel avec boite a cles, plus proche d une auberge de jeunesse. Notre chambre 4 lits superposes sans salle de bain avec une mauvaise odeur au bout d un couloir lugubre et d une piece remplies de cartons et autres bois.

チェックインやチェックアウトは事前に詳細な情報をメールでもらえて非常に便利だった。 荷物の事前預入れもできたので、チェックイン前の観光でも非常に便利でした ビルの改装中だったのが原因かもしれないが、トイレの電気がつかなかったり、シャワーの水が出なかったりとバスルーム周りは問題が多くあった

Hele hotellet var preget av inngrodd skit i trapper og ganger. Ikke bare masse pussestøv, men tydeligvis dårlig/ingen vask på lang tid. Veldig ubehagelig. I tillegg var det plassert gipsplater i ganger og stiger i rømningsområder. Døren til toalettet knirket voldsomt. Kunne stått wc på døra.

Veldig billig, det er konseptet. Vi hadde en helt ok opplevelse, men ganske store deler av bygget er i relativt gammel og sliten tilstand. Heldigvis er det under oppussing. Det er delte bad, og de eldre badene er ikke så kosleige, men et av badene I vår etasje var pusset opp og det var kjempefint. Selve soverommet var ok, ikke noe spesielt, men akkurat hva vi forventet for prisen. Alt I alt, fornøyde i forhold til prisen.
