Amazing family time
We spent 3 weeks at the house with our two sons (2,5 years and 3 months). It was the most amazing time. Our hosts really went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and help us with our every wish. The location of the house is idea for anyone seeking quiet, serenity and mountain views. Also all animal lovers will appreciate the small farm behind the house (our son loved helping to feed the animals daily). The house is very clean, offering everything one needs. Particularly the outside kitchen is amazing. All the most beautiful beaches, south and north, are reachable within max. 1h drive. It's such a great place - we are already planning our next trip to the house.

Perfect!
Our family of two parents and two teenagers spent two fantastic weeks at Villa Margarita. The house is located in a beautiful hilly setting from which it is easy to drive to any part of the island. The house itself is wonderful. The two double bedrooms are well separated so that no noise will bother the occupants of the other room, although the cries of a younger child would be easily audible. The pool allowed us to spend some days relaxing at the house. House is very clean and the interior is easy to maintain. The kitchen has good kitchen knives, cutlery, gas cooker etc. There is no oven but there is a great barbecue outdoors provided with firewood. As important as any quality at Villa Margarita, the landlords (Alejandro and his mother Alejandra) are the most hospitable and friendly I have known in my experience of renting villas in the Canaries. They only visit the villa individually to tend to the animals briefly and to check that all is well e.g. if you need new sheets, towels etc. or if you want advice. They won’t bother you if you prefer them not to. Alejandra grows vegetables and generously brought us fresh courgettes and lettuce. We have rented villas on every island in the Canaries and we have never felt more welcome than at Villa Margarita! The nearest beach (El Molinito) is a 20 minute drive. Beaches on the east coast can be reached in 30-40 minutes (depending on the beach) on smooth roads with very little traffic; driving on them is a pleasure. The beaches in the very south of the island might take an hour to get to (we didn’t go that far on our recent visit as there are many quiet and beautiful beaches within easy reach). For context, our idea of a good beach is one that is uncrowded, where swimming and snorkelling are good, and where there is perhaps one beach restaurant that includes fresh fish on the menu. As northern Europeans during the pandemic we found the house’s relative isolation and the island in general a very welcome break from the routine of home. Islanders and visitors are, of course, very sensible about wearing masks, using sanitiser and practising social distancing, but eating in outdoor restaurants was very welcome and it felt safe. Whether you visit the island for walking or for beaches, Villa Margarita is very highly recommended!

Well positioned to tour the island and for hill walking
We really enjoyed our stay. If you don't like animals go elsewhere. If you do like animals you will love it. We were greeted everyday by 6 cats and half a dozen roaming chickens with their cockerals. There are donkeys, sheep and goats, and in the distance lots of dogs. Nicely remote but not far from a main road or super market in Antigua. The owner is very friendly.

Brilliant holiday in a quiet valley
The clean, spacious and comfortable house is in a beautiful location for walking in the hills, while also having reliable WiFi. The villa's garden is an oasis in the middle of stony hills, with the lawn and trees kept alive by care and attention from the owner Alejandra. As described by other reviewers, there are cats, goats, sheep and hens/cockerels which wander around the ground, and add to the sense of being away from it all. There was everything we needed in the villa (no oven, but that did not detract from our holiday). A car is essential to drive the 10 to 15 mins to the supermarket to buy food (and drinking water - the desalinated water found on this island will not be to everyone's taste). For us a wonderful site for walking, cycling and photography in December.

awful
The house was gloomy, cold and damp. It never sees the sun and the kitchen was lacking even basic cooking equipment and the cutlery and saucepans were ancient and dirty. The pool was very tired and the bathroom unusable with uncontrollable hot water and antique facilities. Calling this place a villa is a complete misnomer, it is an old farmhouse that needs both rebuilding and re-siting. The old lady owner was charming but her adjoining menagerie was unwelcome with her cockerels crowing all night. The worst holiday ever, I feel like asking for my money back. Describing this as a beautiful villa is a con. Disgraceful. Please remove me from your mailing list forthwith.

Get away from it all!
A lovely little villa kept in pristine condition by the owner Alejandro. She is a wonderful woman who could not do enough to help. She speaks no English but we all managed to get by. All rooms are a good size and virtually everything is provided for you from cleaning products to an iron and ironing board. The last few hundred yards are via an unpaved track so a car is essential and this is not a villa for those who want to pop out for a quick drink or a loaf of bread. It might not suit everybody but my wife and I loved it. Thank you Alejandro.

A fantastic, quiet country retreat
We visited Villa Margarita for 11 days in early September. It was about a 25-minute drive from the airport therefore use of a car is essential. Alejandra and Francisco met us in the village of Valles de Santa Innes when we arrived and they led us to the property. After a pleasant short drive along some very dusty roads we arrived at the villa.Anyone who is concerned about nosey neighbours need not worry as the villa is totally on its own with no overlooking properties nearby. There is a smallholding at the rear of the villa where you will find some rescued animals which are cared for daily by Alejandra (Alejandro and Francisco’s mother.) This does not impact on the privacy of guests. There are a few cats & cute kittens who like to come and say hello which was lovely. We were treated to a large bowl of freshly laid eggs which were great. All of the family here are lovely people who can’t do enough to help. We had a couple of small issues which they sorted out almost straightaway. Alejandro and his partner Mapi, and family invited us to the beach house where they were staying and cooked us some fresh fish that Alejandro had just caught as well as some amazing ‘award winning’ breaded goats cheese. They made us feel very welcome and we had a great afternoon with them. He even gave us some more fresh parrot fish and more cheese to take back to the villa. We grilled it on the barbeque at the villa the following night :)Google Translate is definitely a handy tool here. The living room is large and has a TV with a spare HDMI socket if you want to bring a Firestick or Chromecast. The kitchen is fairly small but suited our needs. The bedrooms are of a decent enough size with everything you would need. The beds are good but we would have preferred different pillows as they were memory foam and quite hot. The quality of furniture is great throughout the house and the large sofa in the living room is very comfortable. The pool is clean and a nice temperature. Alejandra came every morning to clear any leave and check on the chlorine. WiFi was reliable and quick.Alejandro gave us a fan for the bedroom which made it nice and cool.Nearest small shop is around 5 minutes’ drive away, with a supermarket around 10 minutes’ drive. I would highly recommend Villa Margarita to anyone who wants an ‘away from it all’ experience, where you don’t need to drive too far to get to places. We will definitely be returning to visit this amazing place & fantastic people in the future

Away from the hordes but close to road communications
Villa Margarita is in the sub-hills above Antigua and below the hills approaching Betancuria. Apart from a few houses around the valley above Valle de Santa Ines it is completely away from fit all - on what we would call lanes in UK, which lead to a cul de sac. No through traffic, road or pedestrian, tarmac to within a hundred metres and no problems with access. And yet it is still only 3 or 4 minutes drive from bars and a basic shop in the village and then very close to the road network giving quick access to explore the whole island. Antigua supermarket is about 10 minutes. As a hostess Alejandra is extremely attentive and helpful. Responds immediately by email to every enquiry prior to booking, is always available on the phone and there each day to feed the animals just above (hens, ducks, cats, couple of goats and sheep, donkey) some of which do wander about, but don't bother you near the house if you don't want them too. The animal area is accessed without going near or within sight of the house, so no disturbance. The furniture inside and outside is all new and excellent quality (including beds). As is the sitting area next to the pool - there are 2 other sitting areas with good quality furniture beside the house. Power is by solar and wind - supplemented in the case of hot water in winter by a boiler - there was loads of very hot water. Cooker is by gas bottle and in case of a winter evening chill Alejandra has installed a pellet stove to warm the lounge if required - 2 weeks before our visit due to the cooler weather in the Canaries this winter. This is very quick and easy and can be put if required. We explored the whole island easily and if you really want to stay in the country away from those mass resorts and don't mind a few animals out the back - this is the place for you on Fuerteventura!

A beautiful tranquil spot in a lovely part of the island.
The house is in a very special part of the island, deep in the National Park. The views are fabulous and the outside spaces are wonderful. It's relatively remote. It is very clean and the owner is helpful and attentive, even leaving fresh goats' milk and eggs on the doorstep. The larger supermarkets and restaurants are some distance away in the busier areas. Life is simple here and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who values that and enjoys being amongst the mountain scenery.

fantastic house and very nice hosts
The house and the garden are beautiful. It's a very quiet environment and it's a perfect location to reach every point on the island within 1 hour. There are some restaurants in the village and the. next bigger supermarket is a 10 minutes drive. The kitchen has a very good equipment. The hosts are very nice people and you will find very friendly cats :-) Absolute recommendation!
