Charming Victorian hotel with great service!
If you want a charming Victorian hotel with great service, this is it! Family owned and run, Gothic Inn staff take you in like family. Every room is different and has it's own character. If you have trouble with stairs, stay downstairs because there is a good flight of steps to access the third floor. Third floor rooms have beautiful views of the ocean. Unless you are in the suite of apartments you will share a bathroom with others. And yes! There are no TV's in the bedrooms, but there is so much to do on Block Island, who wants to watch TV? For those who must, there a TV and 2 sofas in the breakfast room. This is a Victorian Hotel, after all! Breakfast is delicious and filling and the hotel is immaculate. No air conditioning but between the ceiling fan and ocean breeze, we were very comfortable. The hotel provides beach towels and on checkout day they kept our bags until we left for our ferry in the evening. Loved it and have already booked for next year.

The good: Great location, good breakfast. The bad: No one was there to welcome us and show us to our room, or at any time during our stay. But the Main problem was the price for the value: tiny room with no air and no private bathroom for an exorbitant Basically the price of a high-end for the quality of a youth But it’s Block Island: everything is outrageously expensive there.

I am sorry that no one was here to greet you when you arrived. Check in time is 3 PM. The staff stays until 4 or 5. They then call a guest that has not checked in yet to tell them what room they are in and that the key to their room is in the room door and that they will check them in in the morning..I do not know why you were not reached. I am also sorry if you did not know that the building was built approx. 1870 as a private home. It does not have large rooms ( except the master bedroom ) but represents what was considered a upscale home on Block Island at that time. It has 9 guest rooms and 3 full bathrooms. It was built for a sea captain. In spite of our short comings, I hope you will stay with us again in the future.

I liked the fact that the price was the lowest on the internet. I disliked the fact that I never saw any one on the staff until the next morning, and I had to call a number to ask a question from someone who was obviously at some sort of social event.

I am sorry that there was no one to greet you. Our staff stays until approx 4 PM (starting at 7 AM ). Check in is 3 PM. We try to call any guests who have not checked in yet to tell them which room they are in and that the key to their accommodation is in their door and that we will check them in in the morning. We also leave a note on the front door with the same info. We have a house keeper come in each day from 6:30 to 8:30 PM to straighten out the Inn after a days use. She is not at the check in desk. I hope you found your stay enjoyable and a good value.

I admit that Block Island prices are a little higher than the resorts on the mainland but our cost of operation on an Island with the relative short season we have require it. Our price compared to others on the Island are quite reasonable. I hope you will come back and stay with us again.

I am sorry that you were not aware that the rooms in the historic building have shared baths. It is posted on Expedia and our website.. Our second building has private baths because it was built approx. 1950 and is not historic. I hope you will stay with us again in the future and if a private bath is required, we will indicate the accommodations that have them more clearly. Again I sorry for any misunderstanding.

Good enough!
Great location! Walking distance to everything!! The bed is old and creaky and the bedding older and stained. Appears neat and clean, but just worn. Breakfast is like a Motel 6...Needs a redo! The staff were really nice!!

I was in town for a wedding. The accommodations were perfect for my visit, just a bit loud because it is situated right in the middle of the bustle and nightlife. I was worried about the shared bathroom, but it worked out well. Breakfast was better than standard continental.

Guests that come to the Island for a wedding sometime are so busy with the affair that they do not get a chance to really enjoy Block Island.

The Gothic Inn is quaint and historic. It isn't extremely fancy and that's what I love about it. It feels like a home! the staff are very nice as well, and there is free breakfast.

Very nice quaint rooms. Easy walk from ferry. Only issue was heat in room didn’t work. Plenty of blankets though. Very pricey for what was offered though.

Sorry that the heat did not work. We usually turn if off starting June 1. Compared to other Inns and bed and breakfasts on the Island, we are moderately priced. I hope you will stay with us again and give us higher than a five next time.

Ok for a short stay
Owner and asst were nice... we were the only guests during the week. Owner ha Evy’s our pick of available rooms. Baths are shared. Since we were the only ones there, we didn’t have the breakfast options that would be there post Memorial Day. We had to make our own coffee one morning. No one there all night or long. But the place is clean and neat. Bedroom is very small but ok for 2. A common room for tv. Free WiFi, free off road parking and very close to ferry all positives. Price was good.

WEATHER WAS TERRIBLE.. WE OPENED JUST THE DAY BEFORE AND THEY WERE THE ONLY GUESTS AT THE INN WITH NOTHING TO DO. THEY WERE TO STAY TWO DAYS, BUT LEFT AFTER ONE NIGHT. WE DID NOT CHARGE FOR THE SECOND NIGHT.

The location was good, but the staff was almost non-existent- they gave us a key and never told us about the included breakfast. There was never anyone at the desk- I had to call the main number to get an answer about breakfast. The room was small and quite run down. The bathroom fixtures were all rusty, the shower door didn’t close properly, although it was relatively clean. Even when we left there was no one at the desk to leave the key with- hopefully they got it- we just left it behind their desk. The continental breakfast was ok, but the room was tiny and there were bees swarming inside.

The accommodation was unacceptable because the room was on the top (attic) floor with two flights of very steep, and for me, dangerous stairs. The room was so small, the two twin beds took up most of the space. Further, there was one bathroom for several guests to share. There is a certain expectation that comes with a $200 per night room. The pictures I viewed online were attractive, but my accommodation didn't come close to any pictures I saw.

Warning shared bathroom. No where anywhere does the brochure or advertisement tell you. Doors left open all night for anyone to walk in. Breakfast put out late but a very nice breakfast. No access to coffee early in the morning before 8 am. No tv anywhere. The floor in our room and outside of it drenched with water. Some of our clothes got wet from this.

Great trip to Block Island. I read reviews beforehand and knew this wouldn't be the greatest place to stay, but we booked late and there were no other options. Location is good, but overall the place could use some sprucing up. House is musty and needs repairs. Shared bathroom could use a cleaning.

We enjoyed our stay at The Gothic Inn. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. We shared a bathroom, but there was only one other couple on our floor, so it worked out okay. The continental breakfast was good -- bagels, toast, cereal, oatmeal, fresh cut-up fruit, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, juice and coffee. The Inn itself is rather rundown and in need of a paint job and refurbishing, but the staff was capable and very friendly and helpful.

Close to the beach and fine dining.
Hotel Staff were very pleasant , everything that you would enjoy is in close distance. Fine dining with a beautiful view of the ocean. Beautiful sunset ! To reach the scenic roots there are plenty of bikes and mopeds an vehicles to rent ! So enjoyed the friendly people, always look forward to coming back !

Wishing we were somewhere else.
Shared one bathroom with 2 other rooms. My wife's word for this place is DISGUSTING. It may be cheaper than many others but there is a reason for that. Also, close proximity to Los Gatitos where the band plays loud from 10pm to 1:00am

As a traditional B&B, guest rooms have shared baths. Three full bathrooms for 9 guest rooms. The guest suite and apartments has private baths.
