The room was perfectly clean and very comfortable. The staff was considerate and helpful. Great restaurants nearby! Easy public transportation to the center of Boston.

Hotel 1868 is very nice. Rooms are very comfortable. They have thought of everything. Drawers in the bottom of the bed. Hooks for coats. Roomy bath. Desk and chair. All in a compact space but it works! Loved my stay there.

Hi Youfa,Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! We are a 3-star hotel with limited amenities and so we try our best to advertise ourselves that way and price our rooms accordingly. It also looks like you stayed in our Mini Queen room which is the smaller of our two room styles. If you stay with us again, I suggest booking our Standard Queen as it is a larger room. As for the dining, we don't have a restaurant in the hotel but there is a Caffe Nero directly next door and a ton of wonderful restaurants within short walking distance. If the lack of restaurant in the hotel is a deal-breaker, we also have a sister property down the street called Porter Square Hotel which has a French bistro & wine bar in the lobby. We hope to see you again at either of our hotels the next time you are in Cambridge!

Definitely smaller rooms than most hotels, but that was perfect for us. RIGHT across the street from Porter station, excellent valet service. 1868 is perfect for a quick night away!

This place is very cozy and clean. The renovation is pretty new. It is close to Harvard campus, you can walk or take the subway to your destination. The room is relatively small but is big enough for two ppl. The price is very reasonable compare to other hotels near the area.

Cleanliness in rooms in general was poor. Because of a dirty room, I ended up changing rooms, so I got to see several. All rooms appear to be quite tiny. Rooms overlooking Mass Ave were quite noisy. Rooms have thermostats that are difficult to use and which emit a lot of un-blockable light. I will not stay here again.

Hi Amy,Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry that the first room you were checked into had a small stain on one of the sheets. While the sheet was clean, we do try to catch this stuff when we sort through our linen so that it can either be spot-treated or disposed of. I can assure you that this was outside the norm for us, as most of our reviews agree that we have a very clean hotel thanks to our wonderful housekeeping department. The room that you were moved to is one of our smallest rooms and we try to put only one-nighters in it if needed. You were moved there because it was the only other room available at that time of night and we offered to move you to a larger room the next day which you did take us up on. If you change your mind and do stay with us again (which we hope you do), we can add a note to your reservation saying that you would prefer a room facing the back of the hotel which is quieter. We also have a larger room style than the one you booked which is called our Standard Queen (the smaller is called a Mini Queen). We are also able to adjust the temparatures in the rooms from the front desk and are always willing to come up to the room to show you how to use it yourself. Overall, we apologize that you did not enjoy your stay with us and definitely hope that we can change your opinion in the future by having you stay with us again! Best,Alex

Valet parking available, but I didn’t realize at first which caused confusion. we reserved a small room but the bathroom was a bit too confined even though we are not big people. However, we enjoyed our stay. The room was immaculate, staff friendly, bed comfy. Thank you.

Perfect location if you need to be close to public transportation. Located directly across from Porter Square. The hotel was very modern and stylish with rather small rooms, but I was also only a single person. I was just staying the night because my flight home got in late and I work in Cambridge early in the morning. After checking out, the front desk clerk allowed me to keep my bags while I was at work, which was a very nice convenience. I would definitely stay again if I needed to be close to work!

Solid option in this area
Another fine stay at this clean, newer boutique hotel. Very convenient to public transportation (T/Red Line, busses) and nearby hubs (Porter/Davis/Harvard Squares). Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was cozy but sufficient for one person/2-3 nights. Parking is sparse near here and sister hotel, Porter Square Hotel, down the street--although I always seem to have more luck near PSH and always seem to get a parking ticket near this one. Pillows were not the best so -1 for comfort. Overall, a good option when the price is right.

We’ve stayed here a couple times before and will go back again next time we will be in the area. The location is great; right by train station (T & commuter), many restaurant options, CVS, Target, etc. Even the smaller room feels spacious with a storage bed. Staff is s welcoming :) My only callout would be since width of shower curtain is narrower than the shower stall and also a little too short, the bathroom floor gets very wet every time we take a shower……
