About this property

The Crofthouse, beautifully refurbished. set on a working Croft near Ullapool

  • Discover tranquility at The Crofthouse @ Croft 5 Loggie, a self-catering holiday rental on a working croft at Lochbroom, 12 miles from Ullapool. Our intimate Highland retreat offers an authentic Scottish experience in one of the most beautiful settings in the West Highlands.

Designed for couples seeking a peaceful Highland getaway, our cosy crofthouse combines traditional Scottish charm with modern comforts. Experience genuine Highland living on our working croft, wake up to stunning views across Lochbroom, explore the attractions of Ullapool, just 12 miles away, and enjoy the spectacular Highland sunsets that make this location truly special. Arriving, you turn off the main A835 road and cross a small bridge, turn 1st right, then follow a single-track road for five miles along the lochside. The further you go, the quieter it gets.

The setting is the first thing that strikes you. Loch Broom stretches out in front, framed by hills and Highland sky. There are no street lights, no traffic noise — just the occasional call of a bird, sheep bleating, or the sound of the wind moving through the croft land.

The crofthouse itself is 150 years old, cosy and unpretentious. A proper Highland cottage, not a polished holiday let. A log fire for cool evenings, a well-equipped kitchen for self-catering, everything you need for two people and nothing you don't. Wake up in the morning and the first thing you see is the loch.

Wildlife is part of daily life here. Red deer wander through the croft. Otters fish along the shoreline. Sea eagles ride the thermals above the hillside. You're not visiting somewhere they occasionally appear — you're staying in the middle of their habitat.

Ullapool is 12 miles away for anything you need — excellent seafood, Seafood Shack, pizza restaurant Oak & Grain, Rhiddoroch Distillery a lovely pub/cafe, a supermarket, the ferry to the Western Isles. But the road back along the loch each evening feels like returning somewhere, not leaving somewhere.

It's the kind of place where you arrive planning to explore and find yourself doing less than you expected — because sitting and watching the light change on the water and the hills turns out to be exactly enough.
