Speaking of bookshops, the ‘Town of Books’, Hay-on-Wye, is 16 miles away and is a must-see for any storybook devotee. For keen walkers, Pen-y-Crug (1 mile) offers epic views from an Iron Age hillfort, while Cefn Llechid (8 miles) has peaceful trails and wild ponies. Those seeking views at a more leisurely pace may like to experience Brecon Mountain Railway (20 miles).
