The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered big changes to the way we travel. If you plan to jet off to Brier Island, the following tips will help you navigate the "new normal:"

• Before locking in your flight, find out if any travel restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Get the latest updates by reviewing government and airport websites.
• Requirements state that you must wear a face mask at the airport, including at security checkpoints. Be prepared to lower your mask to verify your identity when asked.
• Instead of handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, place it straight on the scanner yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• One liquid hand sanitizer container is now allowed in your carry-on bag. It must be no larger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll have to remove it from your bag for X-ray screening.
• Place any personal items (e.g, keys, phone and coins) in your carry-on instead of a bin to reduce handling during screening.
• Transport all food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Keeping your food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA officer will need to open and touch your bag for inspection.
