Shadow Bend at Live Oak Lake | Modern Cabin
Tucked beneath magnificent Live Oak trees above the water’s edge, Shadow Bend is the perfect getaway for the discerning traveler. Though it is nestled carefully in nature, this modern cabin lacks no comforts or convenience. It has one queen bed upstairs, one full bed downstairs and one bathroom. Complete with a micro chef’s kitchen with luxury appliances, top-notch mid-century furnishings and fine Scandinavian-inspired finishes throughout, this 650 sq.ft. cabin offers a one-of-a-kind experience.
The bathroom is tiled in slate with a soaker tub/shower combo. The kitchen features Fisher & Paykel fridge, freezer and dishwasher with custom fronts to blend in with the white oak doors and drawers, a Bosch Speed Oven for both microwave and oven use and spectacular Charcoal Soapstone Quartz counters. A cozy bedroom off the kitchen features a full bed with a small closet. The kitchen opens up to a spacious living area with a commanding view of Live Oak Lake.
Floor to ceiling gable glass brings the outdoors in, flooding the tastefully designed mid-century modern interior with warm natural light. A closet off the living area houses a washer and dryer. In the center of the cabin, black spiral stairs lead to the loft area where a queen bed is found with plenty more space to unpack and relax. While we have no TV to encourage engagement with the beautiful nature surrounding us, we do offer super high speed internet throughout.
Opening the huge glass sliders from the living area, comfy patio chairs and a smokeless Tiki fire pit await on the concrete wrap-around deck. A hammock can be found swaying gently in the trees, and lush sod invites your feet down to the water’s edge.
Waters Edge Commons—just a short walk away the cabin—is the perfect place to have some outdoor fun, or just simply unwind. Available to all guests at Live Oak Lake, it features a wood pergola complete with swings, picnic tables, and a propane grill. Just down the short stone path our public dock extends into the water, perfect for fishing or an evening paddle in the beautiful wood rowboat. Take an afternoon snooze in the tree hammock or on cooler nights cuddle around a campfire at the stone patio.

The cabin was wonderful. It was very clean and the floor to ceiling window that overlooked the lake was great. It allowed us to sit comfortably inside and still enjoy the view. The area was quiet that made our visit very relaxing. We did a day outing to Waco which was very close and easy to get to. The lake (really a pond) was rather stagnant. The fountains were not doing what they are intended to do. Part of that issue may be due to the recent rain storms that have flooded much of the area. Our only negative was the condition of the pool that needed much cleaning. We had thought we could go out and relax in the pool but that was not possible. We would consider another weekend stay.
My partner and I were a little hesitant to stay here because of the lack of reviews but boy were we amazed when we pulled up. Such a nice place to stay at on our trip and will definitely book again!
