The COVID-19 outbreak may have changed the way we travel, but it hasn't stifled our eagerness for exploring. Here are some tips on how to cope with the new challenges of travelling:

• Before booking your flight, check if any travel restrictions apply — in both your origin and destination. Keep informed with the latest updates by reviewing government travel advisories.
• When you pass through airport checkpoints, do not remove your face mask. You will be required to lower it briefly to verify your identity. Travellers who refuse to wear a face mask may face civil penalties and may also be escorted from the building.
• Rather than handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, place it straight on the scanner yourself. Then, hold it up for inspection.
• You're allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your hand luggage. This will need to be removed for screening.
• Put any personal items (e.g, keys, phone and wallet) in your carry-on rather than a bin to minimize handling during the screening process.
• If you're bringing food on the plane, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA agent will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for closer inspection.
