Camden is a lovely coastal town offering something for everyone. Enjoy views of MOUNT BATTIE from the front stoop or take a 30 minute moderate hike to the summit from the TRAIL HEAD at the AT THE TOP OF THE STREET. Those less adventuresome can drive to the top via the Mount Battie State Park entrance. Either way the reward is a marvelous view of the harbor, bay, and outlying islands. Bald Rock Trail in Camden Hills State Park was listed as one of the world's most scenic walks (Departures, Adam H Graham, Mar/Apr 2012)
If you would rather not cook your own lobsters in our convenient outdoor propane lobster and shellfish pot, take a walk to the wharf for a lobster feast at Peter Ott's on the harbor, enjoy a harbor view from The VIEW rooftop bar at 16 Bay View hotel, wonderful dining in town at FRESH & CO., and award winning LONG GRAIN (reservations recommended) among others. Or you can chose to hang out with the locals at Cuzzy's and enjoy a Maine micro-brew beer and play some pool. You may also want to reserve a spot on one of the various wooden sailing schooners for a tour of Penobscot Bay or learn to kayak with Maine Sports Kayak Tours. Town events include the Camden Food and Wine Festival in June, Country Roads Artist & Artisans Tour in September and Lobster Festival in nearby Rockand In July. Camden also offers a wide variety of restaurants, gourmet food and wine purveyors and unique shops where you can find upscale clothing, local pottery/art, antiques, and more.
WONDERFULLY LOCATED IN MIDCOAST MAINE, Camden is a great stepping stone from which to discover the pleasures of the seacoast as well as an array of exciting day trips to the north and south. You may want to experience the ANNUAL MAINE LOBSTER FESTIVAL IN ROCKLAND every August(20 minute drive), Arts in the Park in Belfast (18 mi.), and the Union State Fair and Maine Wild Blueberry Festival in Union (13 mi.). A true Maine fully equipped cottage, great location for walking into Camden, hiking into Camden Hills State Park and for driving out into the area. Host very responsive.
We absolutely loved our stay at Wicker Cottage. Charming, well stocked, comfortable and nicely decorated. Short walk to Camden Harbor and Downtown with all its shops and restaurants. We visited in October when the color of the leaves were at their best. Nearby hiking and walks were just great. Michele, one of the owners, was always responsive and interested in us enjoying our stay. Hope to come again.
Beautiful cottage very near the harbor and the main street area. Very quiet and cozy, clean, and a perfect get away in coastal Maine. I would highly recommend this cottage for your stay in Camden.
We enjoyed the week we spent at Wicker Cottage. Recommend staying here if you want privacy away from traffic and tourists, but a few minutes walk to all that Camden has to offer.
Had a wonderful time !! Everything was as described if not better quaint cottage in quaint area with all the amenities of home Michelle was incredibly responsive and friendly !! I’ve been using VRBO for over 15 years and this is easily our favorite rental Highly recommend
The property was in a great location and had everything you could possibly want. The decor fit a water/mountain location theme and yard landscaped beautifully. Our host reached out to check in as to how we were doing. Maine sites were breath taking. We really enjoyed our visit. This was our first time reserving a vacation spot through VRBO and is was a good experience.
Everything in Camden was walkable from the house so we didn't have to use the car much at all. It got pretty hot some days so we walked to Laite Beach to swim, surprisingly uncrowded beach. Lots of good food options in town. The hike up Mt. Battie was quite punishing for a couple of 60+ people but we recovered with some ice cream at River Ducks. Overall a great week at Wicker House.
Our visit to Camden was truly enhanced by our stay at Wicker. The Cottage was attractive, very clean and well outfitted, especially the kitchen. There were numerous places to relax, both inside and outside the house. The neighborhood was a ten minute walk from the downtown area with its numerous restaurants. And we had excellent communication with the owner. In all, a first rate VRBO experience.
Following our GPS, we drove through the picturesque town of Camden, where the streets buzzed with life and the harbor was filled with magnificent sailing vessels.
Our approach to Wicker Cottage was filled with joyous anticipation, and it did not disappoint. The cottage is beautiful, artistically decorated, and a delight to stay in. Every detail was crafted with loving attention. Michelle was wonderful, offering excellent advice about local attractions, restaurants, and shopping.
The gardens are lush, with plenty of sunny nooks perfect for reading or enjoying a coffee.
If we could give a 6-star rating, we would.
We will be back next year and plan to stay longer than our six days of bliss.

The cottage was comfortable and spotless. The kitchen was well-equipped. Location was very quiet and an easy 5 to 10 minute walk to downtown Camden and the harbor. The host was readily available when we needed to contact her and very helpful. And we enjoyed quality time with Harry the neighborhood cat, whose photo is included in the listing. We'll certainly stay at the cottage again next trip to Camden.
Wicker Cottage is a charmer. We had a lovely visit. The cottage is a step back in time, wholesome, warm and welcoming. The location is a blissful stroll to the village of Camden. There is plenty of shops to enjoy and delicious eateries on every street. You won’t be disappointed, and you will look forward to returning. Thank you for hosting us.
We loved staying at Wicker Cottage! It was very well equipped, including cooking spices, shampoo and body wash, dish soap, etc. The layout of the cottage was great, enough comfortable places to sit for 4 people. It was beautifully decorated and the gardens were lovely. We loved sitting in the outdoor areas after dinner. The host checked on us to make sure we were settled in and comfortable via the website.
Adorable home in a great location. Very well stocked (above and beyond with little treats like homemade soaps). We would absolutely recommend. The only caveat is make sure you are comfortable with stairs. They are unusually steep in this old home.
Wicker Cottage is a beautifully kept, well appointed, charming, and cheerful house within easy walking of Camden Harbor, shops and restaurants. The neighborhood is quiet, with many lovely homes and gardens to stroll by and admire. It's a cheery place to relax and just breath-in the "Down East Maine" experience.
