"Beautiful home for a mountain getaway. Host was honest, home was immaculately clean. Nice appliances, nice tv's, speedy internet for being on the side of a mountain, nice furniture ( was very impressed with the furniture, towels, bathroom cleanliness, nice extra blankets, utensils ). "Some of the amenities listed for the property we're not on site. There was no hot tub. That wasn't a huge deal. However, the listing did state there was air conditioning and there was not. There happened to be record high temperatures during our stay and two adults have medical conditions/on medication that makes them heat intolerant as well as one of the children being autistic, the lack of AC was a major issue. The property management company brought out portable units and promptly resolved...

"Our stay at River Retreat was incredible. The house was extremely clean, comfortable, and recently remodeled and just so nice. The wonderful views of the river and property were enjoyed by everyone. The hot tub on the deck was perfect for relaxing. It feels very remote, yet is just a few minutes from Mount Airy main street for shopping and restaurants. Perfect place to stay and certainly will be back!"

Comfort Inn & Suites Hillsville I-77

10/10 Excellent

"Would definitely stay here again while traveling"

The Balladeer Hotel, Mount Airy, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"This place is great! Everything you would want great location, great staff, very clean rooms as well as hotel was very clean inside and outside very safe area. It's a wonderful hotel we spent 3 days the beds were very comfortable. When they get the restaurant going it will be much better!"

Hampton Inn Galax

10/10 Excellent

"The free breakfast they had for guests starting at like 6 in the morning was fabulous! My girlfriend was quite thrilled about the waffle station, which she managed to use w/ little to no mess! Also the fresh lemon-infused water & cucumber-infused water provided at all times was a big hit! The staff were positively fabulous: very friendly, kind, & personable! Although the facility was undergoing renovation at the time, which limited available parking, the staff were quite willing to allow us to park outside of designated areas, providing easy loading & unloading of our rather-too-extensive accoutrements. Conveniently located to Galax, Independence, Foster Falls, and other areas of interest & local beauty!"

Bryson Inn

8/10 Good

"Pros: The property was easy to get to with ample parting. We had a King room and the in-room amenities were nice; plenty of seating and a comfortable bed. The price was average for what we got. There is a good southern type restaurant across the street. Cons: We are senior citizens, 70years plus. Our room was on the second floor and there was no elevator; we had to lug our baggage up the stairs. Although the bed was comfortable, the pillows were a bit on the stiff side; good for some folk but I could not get used to them during our one night stay. The bathroom was clean but small. You had to walk in and turn out of the way to close the door. The shower tub was a little scary stepping out of it. It was somewhat a big drop from the tub to the floor. Grab bars are definitely needed. I am surprised that is not a requirement. The continental breakfast was just that, very 'continental'. We would stay there again if we could get a room on the first floor and the shower had grab bars. Even my wife was nervous stepping out of the tub. For young people, these cons would probable not be an issue."
