"Isolated deserted hotel from the 1960s looks like it’s falling apart. Location on Expedia listing is misleading - it is 2km scary switchbacks poor road up a hill from where it is shown. Got food poisoning from restaurant "

"Have nothing but wonderful things to say about this place! The grounds are incredible. They are filled with beautiful flowers and three different hiking trails. The room was excellent—very spacious, beautiful views of the forest, and we were able to see animals right outside our window. The restaurant on premise was wonderful for all meals. The staff went out of their way to help. Our flight got cancelled, and they reached out proactively and were able to book us a different driver from the airport to hotel. All tours can be booked on site. Truly wonderful experience! "

"Very helpful and friendly staff available to book last minute excursions and provide recommendations, including dealing with a flat tire. Breakfast was delicious. Walking distance to restaurants in Santa Elena and short distance to many activities in the Monteverde area. Highly recommend."

"From the minute we pulled into this property, I knew pictures didn’t do it any justice. It is beyond beautiful. The views are out of this world. Rooms were so cute, beds were comfortable. Staff was so friendly and accommodating. Couldn’t recommend this place enough! For reference, we traveled with 2 adults, 2 kids ages 11 and 12 and a 1 year old. "

"Location was quiet as it was at the end of the road by the reserve, we stayed from a Wednesday to Saturday, staff were nice, our room was a little cramped for 4. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed. "

"The setting is honestly breathing! Surrounded by lush landscape and incredible views of the volcano, you feel completely immersed in nature. You wake up and immediately appreciate how beautiful and peaceful everything is. That said, the location does come with a bit of a trade-off. It’s quite far from town and most excursions, so getting around requires some planning (and time). If you’re hoping to pop in and out easily, this might not be the most convenient option. The property itself is charming but the rooms are a little dated in terms of decor and overall feel. It didn’t take away from the experience though. The he only real disappointments was the pool, it’s quite small considering how large the property is, and it felt a bit underwhelming given the otherwise expansive setting. Also worth noting: be prepared for a workout! The hotel is built into the landscape, so there’s a lot of uphill walking. It adds to the unique character of the place, but definitely bring good shoes and be ready for some stairs and climbs. Overall, it’s a beautiful, peaceful escape with stunning surroundings—just go in knowing it’s a quiet offset resort from the more touristy area of Fortuna. "
