Our room was terrible. It was poorly designed and you can tell the hotel just does things with minimal effort. Our bathroom was horrible. Incredibly dated with virtually no water pressure. The only saving grace was the bed and the room was pretty clean. Staff were friendly enough and the location is good. Overall a mediocre experience.

Quaint Inn with views of the ocean and cute rooms. Has in house dinning, happy hours, and convenient walk to shopping and other stores. Location is excellent but also means noisy evenings. But the room fan helps.

Very nice staff, we were able to check in early and get ready for the wedding we were attending that day. The Porch staff was great and the young man that opened the door was so polite and respectful.I wasnt able to take a bath due to the stopper wasnt working (water drained out). It was a little warm in the room. Otherwise It was a very pleasant stay...

the room was very small no chair, no night/side tables. no wall decorations, no clock, a king size bed and a small dresser a TV and a bathroom, no wall decorations and nothing else, very sparse for the money we paid, There were very few quests and we were not offered an upgrade, although it probably would not have mattered.

Highly recommended
Quick stay for a night out in Cape May. Nice place to stay and over half the price of a very popular place within walking distance of The Inn. Across the street from beach access and within walking distance to a lot of local bars, restaurants and shopping. Restaurant with a good breakfast, on premises. Place was very clean and cozy with a nice fireplace in the lobby. Room was a little small but clean and comfortable. Only issue was lack of water pressure and water didn’t get very hot in the shower. Definitely recommend.

It's a cool place and very clean. I stayed just 1 night and that's probably all I could ever do. The room was very small up on the 4th floor. Bathroom had no horizontal space to hold items. The restaurant had very slow service for breakfast but the food was good. Customer service could be more upbeat and friendly. Location is perfectly convenient to walk everywhere, which we did.

The Inn at Cape May is a wonderful property and experience. The hotel is beautifully maintained 100 year old inn and offers a very pleasant seaside experience. The staff is so friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay great. The porches, bar and restaurant are lovely.

The Inn of Cape May is such a beautiful place to stay in the perfect location. Having drinks on the porch and listening to live music was the perfect way to start the night. The room was so bright and cozy with 4 big windows and a beautiful view of the ocean. I just wish there was more storage in the bathroom, even a shelf, there was no place to put anything down or store any toiletries. Our room was on the 4th floor and you needed to have someone take you up and down in the elevator, we didn’t mind the walk up and down the stairs, but if this is an issue maybe request a room on a lower floor. I can’t wait to stay there in the summer when we can take full advantage of the pool and being directly across the street from the beach.

Historic Hotel right on the Beach
Lovely hotel in a fantastic location. Felt very historic. Good service in the restaurant and coffee shop. Elevator available, but required paging an operator and steps were quicker. Full with bus tour when we were there and porches and dining areas were a bit noisy, Could walk to beach directly across the street. and our room had a view of the beach

Our stay was great! Phenomenal location, awesome vintage Victorian vibes, very helpful and kind staff, wonderful in-house eating and more! We stayed in the “basic suite” and I was surprised to see the sink so so tiny and no mirror in the bathroom- it was just very impractical. Perhaps a suggestion to at least mount some sort of small mirror? Nevertheless, wonderful stay- wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!

Great location, beautiful building. A bit too noisy outside our room, and I didn't really care for the piano player who played for hours and you couldn't hear anything else (this was on a Friday). I like staying in old places and love their quirks, but our room itself was very sparse and small. It didn't feel very warm or cosy. Guess I was expecting something more historical and Victorian in the decor. Felt more like it was furnished by Ikea, and not in any good way.

Don't be fooled.
The hotel was grubby and in need of a good cleaning. The staff were surly and unhelpful. The room was awkward with a small bathroom. The shower kept backing up into the tub, the a/c didn't work. The service for the room was lacking. There was no help with your bags...they watched as you struggled with your bags. Breakfast was cold and the waitress gave us a hard time about the table. Overall the impression was that you were not welcome. I would never stay here again.

Charming old hotel in a great location.
The hotel staff is delightful, the place is spotless, the linens and bedding are high quality. The location is wonderful and on-site parking eminently convenient. It fits beautifully with the charm of Cape May. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The only detraction is it teeters between quaint and charming and old and inconvenient. The elevator is the 2nd oldest working one in the US (we were told proudly), barely holds three people and must be operated by staff, so this is not a great place for the physically challenged. The least expensive (I dont know about the more expensive rooms) are barely large enough for a king bed and dresser and the little bathroom is circa 1950. I prefer an old hotel with character and can put up with its peculiarities, but others might find it too outdated.

We loved the location and the inclusion of beach chairs and umbrellas and money toward breakfast as well. The staff was very attentive and kind. The rooms were nice, but unremarkable. Suggestions for them would be some counter space in the bathroom -there was not ANY which is a problem in a bathroom. Also, our room seemed to house the ductwork and it was very loud at all times. We would return to this location, but would request a different room.

As far as ductwork, unfortunately the building is over 100 years old and that is one of the quirks that comes with such an old building. Beauitful, know what you're going into
The service was some of the nicest I've ever experienced- staff is absolutely lovely. The location is also everything you could ask for, the building is beautiful and its surrounded by the heart of the area. Know what you're getting into with the building, though. I knew from other reviews that the hotel lacked outlets etc- totally fine. What I didn't expect was a noticeably sloped floor, a bathroom door that didn't fully fit its frame or close fully and the bathroom sink being in the middle of our bedroom instead of in the bathroom with the toilet and shower. Its an old building, and has all the flaws and character you'd expect in exchange for the beauty and location. But I would have liked to know the state of the rooms before going into it. Still a good time though.

Top notch location, food and guest service.
Per the historic nature of this Inn, the rooms and bathrooms are tiny but very clean and well maintained. The air conditioning worked incredibly well in our room and the hot water was plentiful. We are pretty picky about beds and pillows and this one suited us just fine. The Porch dining space overlooking the ocean is what dreams are made of and the All Day Omelet with egg whites was so good, I had it every morning. There are Bike racks inconspicuously located on property, a great pool that allows adult beverages, (see photo) a main floor bar/restaurant and it is waking distance to literally everything. If you are looking for a spacious & luxurious hotel room, than this is not the place for you. But if you are looking to sleep at a historic Inn with a location that enables you to easily be out and about Cape May that will also 4 star guest service, book this place now.

This is one of the worst stays i have ever experienced. We were hoping for a quaint and cozy stay after our wedding. Instead we had the smallest/coldest/most out dated room. Very old elevator. Bathroom complety outdated. Ants in the bathroom. We arrived late and wanted to relax outside a bit so we turned on the fur pit in the garden. 10 mins later the police shows up. The hotel night attendant called the police on us! Then while at the pool, we wete scolded and constantly stared down by the pool warden. Apparently you cannot eat ANY snacks by the pool! These two experiences put such a poor taste in our mouths, literally ruining the entire weekend for us. The breakfast and cafe were great. The front porch was very nice. The day time staff, excellent!

Thanks for your honest review. We are a 100+ year old Victorian-style Inn. Our elevator is the oldest elevator in NJ. The bathrooms are original to the building with updated fixtures. Unfortunately, the city of Cape May has rules on how late our lawn/firepits can be operated (10pm). We are glad however that you enjoyed the Porch and Restaurant along with the staff. We think they are top notch. Hopefully, we can service you again soon.

Beautiful hotel. Room was bright and clean and the staff… just amazing. So thoughtful and the front reception girl made our checkin so easy. We were exhausted from a long drive and a stress full week and she stepped in and took care of us. It was magical!
