We travelled with another couple , and stayed in the cottages amongst the orange groves and vineyards . The views were amazing and it helped us fulfill our travel of a lifetime as we ended our 2 week travels thru South Africa . We had multiple meals at the property and were very pleased . The property is convenient to both Stellenbosch and Fransschhoek. If you go, highly recommend the Fat Butcher for dinner or lunch. Spend a day in both towns . You won’t regret it

Idyllic Setting For a Family Reunion.
Exquisite Setting for a relaxing peaceful getaway. The cottage was absolutely adorable and the fireplace and quaint kitchen only added to the warmth of the family time we shared reconnecting over fine food, good wine and the sound of raindrops on the tin roof! Idyllic!

This was a really wonderful place to stay. We had our own cottage with a fire and an outdoor area overlooking the mountains. The breakfast area also had incredible views. We were given a hamper and wine on arrival all produced on the estate. Highly recommend

AMAZING
Our stay at Boschendal was amazing! Could not fault a thing. They think about every little things and that’s what makes them so special. Also thoroughly enjoyed walks around the farm estate and the Friday night market was fabulous with lots of drinks food and vendors. The deli does some great little foods and pastries.

Tip top condition. Everything is in its place and well thought out. Signboards to cottages can be bigger or solar-lighted at night as it is pitch black. A great place to stay !

Great Accomodation Poor Restaurant
The accommodation and setting is superior. The Deli & Coffee house is very nice, but unfortunately in off season is not open in the evening. This was our second visit to their restaurant. The wines are over priced. They do not have a corkage system, even though you may have bought Boschendal wine. Their menu is concoction of hype and poor ingredients. What they describe as steak are a few pieces of sinewy off trim that any decent butcher would have discarded.

A cozy vineyard/farm estate in wine country!
One of the loveliest places i have ever visited. I stayed with a group in the 3 bedroom suite the first night and then moved to a 1 bedroom for my second night. Wonderful amenities such as a free shuttle around the property, free wine and fresh milk in the fridge for your morning coffee. They have a farm shop that makes cooking in the suites so easy. The rooms i stayed in offered an indoor fireplace and an outdoor BBQ which really makes it so fun and enjoyable for group stays! My only complaint was with the spa: the staff was lovely, but the quality of the massage was not great. But that would not deter me from coming here again. I 100% would stay here again - if not just for the scenery.

Beautiful place but I don’t recommend it.
Unfortunately, the experience was not what we expected, due to the family of mice living in the Cottage. We didn’t fly 26 hours, from the United States to go sleep with mice. They did not get us a new room until 10pm and we were leaving at 9am the following day. I was told when checking out that I would receive an email regarding are stay at the Clarence Cottage. I’m still waiting patently for their email. I’ve emailed them 2 or 3 times this week and still no response.

A long way from Franschhoek
This is 18km from Franschhoek so a taxi back cost us £25, not ideally placed. Views and surroundings are beautiful if you don’t mind being isolated but we like going to restaurants in the town Cottages had a shared pool and an individual BBQ They are fine but expensive for what you get. The cottage for 2 had literally 2 of everything, plates, glasses, forks etc in the ‘fully equipped kitchen’ Our experience was soured by the fact that the werf restaurant was closed on both nights we were there, the farm tours weren’t available and there was a charge for the 15 minute cellar tour even as farm guests, whereas every other winery we visited had a free one. Add to this an oven and phone that didn’t work, not somewhere we would return to I’m afraid

The cottage was beautiful and the surroundings were great as well. We really enjoyed the stay. The pool was super relaxing as was the cottage. One frustrating part was the wifi is nearly non-existent which makes it difficult when traveling and trying to book reservations. Also, the cottage phones operate off of wifi so we weren't able to contact the reception to book dinners/etc. This is something that should be fully operational in 2019. I would stay there again if this was addressed.

We have stayed previously at Orchard and Werf cottages. We were very impressed with the quality and housekeeping. However this time we stayed at Retreat Cottages for 5 nights. The housekeeping was sporadic- thebeds only made up on 2 days. On one day one room was made up but not the other! Bins not emptied unless left out on floor. Water and milk not topped up daily.Had to call for replacement s - if we knew it wasn’t going to be done we could have purchased in town. On one day milk was left out on shelf in 28 degrees heat. Fridge door left open so food not kept cold so threw out. Toilet not cleaned. Had to ask for washing liquid, cafetiere, and wood for braii. Plug in sink wrong size - we asked for replacement - which we got day 3. Made washing dishes difficult when tying to conserve water. One day 3 people were cleaning the cottage which would really only need one person doing it properly. Reception quite often empty with ‘back in 5 mins” Would be useful to have recycling bin for glass and plastic. A bit disappointing considering past experience. We did mention on check out the sporadic service.

Simply stunning scenery
