Clean, very convenient for walks on cliffs and sea front. Spa if you needed it. A pleasant place to stay with good views. Shower taps and connection need repacking, can only use hand shower section. Bathroom floor due to be replaced as it has several cracked tiles, due to be re fitted in January.

Disappointed, lacking attention to detail.
The hotel is in a lovely location near to the sea front with great views. The car park (quite small) is regularly full, this seems to be a feature of the hotel, especially around afternoon tea time and evening dinner times, a real annoyance for guests who are staying at the hotel. The room was big, relatively clean, quiet and comfortable, I did feel it was getting a little tired and in need of some TLC in parts of the room. The plug sockets were all in odd places with very few being convenient/practical for use. The spa was a real let down, the pool was too cold to be relaxing. The Spa has a pool, relaxation room and a steam room and that was it. When we asked for some cups to get some water (there were none left) we were given one each and told to hang on to them and take them everywhere with us! Breakfast was a let-down. When our order arrived, there were numerous items missing, and never arrived. It all felt very under staffed. The attitude of one of the waitresses was really poor. There is a 10% service charge added to all bills which I was told was optional but was already added. This is stealth tax and you have to ask for it to be removed, this causes embarrassment to the guest and you almost feel obliged to pay it, a very poor policy adding to an already expensive bill. If I want to leave, I tip I will at my own option, not be embarrassed into paying one. Overall the place was really let down but its staff, who seemed to care very little about the guest experience.

Very mediocre room facilities The bed had a foot base that was higher than the mattress and a catching and tripping hazard Overly hot room which obviously required aircon. Fans placed near bed were loud. The bathroom fixtures were poor quality and the tapset beside the bathroom were wobbly and poorly positioned. Broken bedside light glass, these were shocking fixtures This place could be so elegant and restrained.

Food and service was very good, the condition of the building decoratively was due a overhaul, the hotel was clean for the price of £370 for two on a one night stay it is not cheap given the cheeped paint and worn carpets.

Nice, but more attention to detail needed
Good location, impressive looking building, good breakfast. Nice spacious room, Shower cubicle however needs attention - tiles and grout very mould inside, not acceptable. Attention to customer service poor. Ignored on check in as too busy breaking down cardboard boxes behind reception, Two Cleaners in the morning busy gossiping in the corridor, didn’t stop or move out of the way as we tried to get past with our luggage, no goodbye on check out, or an enquiry as to how our stay was. It’s the small things that make the difference.

Pleasant place to stay
Stayed at Holm House as we were going to football in Cardiff and Penarth was a pleasant place to stay. The hotel was good and the only negative was the breakfast on the Sunday as we weren’t offered the menu options only the buffet, and it wasn’t until we observed others ordering from the menu that we were aware there were other options. Breakfast a lot better on the Monday morning.

The situation was convenient to Cardiff - 20 mins on the local bus to the centre of the city. Our room had lovely views of the sea. This hotel is in an upmarket area of Penarth 5 mins walk from the beach.

Fantastic hotel
An amazing experience. The hotel was stunning, beautiful communal areas and garden. We were blown away by our room it was so luxurious and comfortable. The location was perfect for both the seafront and the town centre. The receptionists were welcoming, friendly and efficient and made us feel ‘at home’. Our breakfast was delicious and cooked to perfection and the lovely girl who waited on us was so attentive and personable. We are already planning a return trip to Holme House - we loved every minute of our stay.

Very nice hotel, converted old house, lovely decor throughout, nice views to the sea (3rd floor). Didn't eat in hotel as we were visiting relatives although guests in dining room appeared to be enjoying their meals. Staff very attentive, only complaint was trying to operate TV's despite following instructions they were very fickle, same with coffee machine, previous experience obviously helps as staff managed it 1st time.

Lovely hotel at Penarth
A beautiful hotel, but not run very well. The check-in time was later that was in our reservation and when we came back couple of hours later, the room was still not ready. The room was beautiful, but in need of better cleaning and some paint. The breakfast was very good and the staff polite.
