Staff were really friendly and helpful, especially some young guy on reception and also worked in the bar , cant remember his name , There was no cold water in the room apart from the taps on the sink next to toilet, so could not use the shower as it was boiling to hot to stand under , had to run a bath and fill the rest up with cups of water from sink , took ages as you can imagine , was worth 51 pound a night but seeing the prices for the summer over hundred pounds is quite a joke and would never pay it

Staff were nice. Can't fault that but the place is very old. The photos are not a true reflection as they make place look very new and modern. Run down for sure. Wouldn't stay again.

In the area I wanted to be. Comfortable with the facilities you would expect. Main road outside was quite busy, so traffic noise evident early in the morning. Men talking early (6:30) right outside the front of the building.

Christmas party night at this hotel when we arrived. We were offered ear plugs - our room was on the first floor and noise was so loud our beds were vibrating. Stayed with my 10 year old daughter, we couldn’t go to sleep until after midnight when the music stopped. No answer from the phone line, despite being told there would be availability 24 hours. Beds the most uncomfortable I’ve ever stayed in, could feel every spring. One thin pillow. The thinnest curtains. Walls so thin I could hear people talking, phone alarm going off in another room. Despite being told there was free parking, the car park was tiny with less than 10 spaces and really hard to get to. Had to drive around neighbouring streets to find something. The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. We have friends in the area and were visiting for the weekend, we will certainly not be back.

Thought it a bit odd that this was listed as a 4 star hotel when it was a 2 star at best. It was, however, alright for the price; it was a bit old and could use some updating. There was a bit of the flooring in bathroom that almost gave way when I stepped on it. The room definitely didn’t reflect the one I chose on Expedia.

Regarding the building looking old is due to the fact the building being old despite this it does come with a lot of character. The room was nothing like the picture the room looked glorious airey bright really nice we had a room which was very old the shower was a nitmare to much pressure so flys around everywhere we had plastic cups to have a cup of tea we had one pillow each we had a room at the back of the hotel and looked out onto a rubbish corner wasn’t nice at all the staff were Lovely which did ease the experience!!

Lovely friendly staff Room was beautiful for the price very quiet slept like a log Only thing that was missing was shower gel/shampoo as i thought they might have little bottles of it available. Cleanliness 5 stars

Liked everything apart from the poor bed and poor pillow, to be honest there was only 1 pillow each and the bed was cheap and nasty. Also parking was an issue and it's NOT suitable for disabled people especially wheelchair users infact you won't be able to get a wheelchair to the door. Staff were awesome

Unfortunately our hotel is not 100% accessible, which is something we are transparent about. If a guest with a disability still wants to stay with us, we will take steps such as making sure they are in a room accessible by lift/ has a walk in shower/ is more spacious - our staff work had to do this and we are glad you found them so helpful. We can only apologise for not being 100% accessible. In future if you stay with us, we are always happy to hand out extra pillows if you need any, so please don't hesitate to ask! :)

Why pay any more, this hotel has everything.
From the greeting to the departure it was fantastic. Hidden gem. The price you pay far exceeded my expectation. There were only 2 things that let this hotel down, the pillow(only get one) and no long mirror. Spotlessly clean, lovely large room with tea and coffee making facilities(any extra you pay 20p for) Breakfast was tasty and delivered to our room(£11 for 2 bacon and sausage rolls with tea) piping hot. If we stayed in Barry again we would not hesitate to stay here again. The staff were outstanding, incredibly welcoming, friendly and couldnt do enough for you. If you are looking for a cheap, clean and comfortable stay look no further.

Good room with available services ie. Bar & all day food & coffee. Handy for the station & Wetherspoons, some people might find it a bit far from the front but you get a great view of the docks & sea & it's a nice walk to get there

Good location shame about the rooms
The guy on reception was very slow and admitted he didn't know how to direct us to the rooms. When walking through the corridors there was a damp smell. Entering room 11 it looked clean and had a new carpet however there was only one towel provided when the room was booked for an adult and a child. The bed was ok however had one thin pillow each. The curtains were white and not black out so woke up at 5am. The curtains were stained where I would guess someone had been sick on them from the bed. There was a wedding on the day we arrived which we could hear past 3am. When the last guests left the bar we then heard the staff scraping the tables on the floor at 4am clearly setting up the room. My husband was in room 16 my my son and their room wasn't any better. The old sash window wouldn't close. The bed was not comfy and was described was good as an old sofa bed where the springs would poke through. He also said whenever any room ran water or flushed the toilet he could hear the pipes. We left at 8am the following morning. The rooms definitely let this hotel down.

Please bear in mind that it may be somebody's first shift; a little kindness goes a long way.Two towels should have been provided in your room; we will look into the reason that this was not the case. You were situated over the opposite side of the hotel to the wedding, therefore noise disruption should have been minimal. We are sorry to hear you were disturbed. Hidden gem
Following some of the reviews i arrived ferling nervous, however i was really impressed. The staff are lovely and welcoming. The room was large, clean and well laid out. There was some noise from a wedding party (which is understandable and beyond the hotels control) however the reception team were honest and did warn me when i checked in, and offered earplugs. I thought this added to the vibrancy of the hotel, however if you like quiet other hotels maybe better for you. The bed was so comfortable and i slept well. The hotel is a short walk from Barry Island and there are shops and a wetherspoons nearby. The shower takes a while to get used to but worked ok. The hotel has been really honest about on site parking and i didnt attempt to park at the hotel however there is lots of parking available on the road. If you have mobility issues or require a wheelchair this maybe not the hotel for you. Overall a very positive experience and would recommend

Travelled down for “Glastonbarry “, Hotel was in an ideal location, close to railway station, town centre, Barry island and Romilly Park venue for Glastonbarry. Staff were excellent and couldn’t do enough for us, room was clean and tidy but tiny for 2 people, would probably be a okay for a single occupant. We were in room 2 ground floor. Only minor complaint apart from room size was noise from neighbours on our first night, it sounded like a young couple with 2 young kids, think they had been to Glastonbarry Juniors which takes place on the Friday before the adults event, I think they were in a competition for who could argue the loudest , mother or kids ,think mum took the trophy, think kids won the prize for 10,000 metres race up and down the corridor at 1:30 am, they’d probably been overdosing on performance enhancing slush. Anyway luckily they vacated on the Saturday and are all probably happily torturing someone else now. I didn’t think complaining at the time would help us get to sleep any sooner as ignorant people are usually best left to tire themselves out, Big thanks to Jacob and the team for your service.

Pros: Jacob is extremely helpful and cheerful. Staff are very nice and tried their best to help you. The room is clean and are area is very quiet, and very convenient at the same time. Barry Beach is walkable Cons: Parking is insufficient, the rooms is old, the showerhead is leaky, the toilet is a bit dark. Overall: the price is very good so I would say you get what you paid for
