Studio in the countryside with pool, exceptional view, great for relaxation and trips
10/10 Excellent
"Un bel accueil de la part de Giuseppe et sa petite famille, l'endroit est très calme et reposant, le lieu n'est pas loin des Cinques terres, Florence, Pise, Génes, et notre coup de coeur, Porto venere. Il y a d'autres villages autour très sympa à faire.Un grand merci à Giuseppe pour ce séjour, ses conseils et sa disponibilité, je recommande !"
Convento La Perla - an old renovated private villa with swimming pool in Carrara
10/10 Excellent
"We were a group of 8 that used this private location in September as a “home base” for trips to Cinque Terre, Lucca, Viareggio, and a Carrara quarry tour. We arrived and were welcomed by Kerstin, who was the most gracious host and provided a seamless check-in. The weather was beautiful during our stay and the pool immediately beckoned, with the perfect setting to get some sun, and relax before our adventures in Tuscany began. The Convento was rustic, but very clean, and well appointed with many modern amenities and has been lovingly cared for, restored with the most amazingly maintained grounds that were a pleasure to explore and find quiet solitude when needed. The views from the Convento are nothing short of spectacular, overlooking Carrara’s hills, valleys all the way to a near wide view of the sea and beyond. Many great amenities in the nearby community for some great nights out (Pizzeria La Torre and Gelateria Da Enzo were our faves) and great markets within a short drive for a relaxing night in if we chose to do so, and cook for ourselves. Driveway is a little daunting at first, but it’s worth the trip and the reveal at the top makes it all worthwhile. Check-out with Susanna was as seamless, and she was as wonderful as Kerstin, with some great recommendations for the area. Book with confidence, this place is a unique, once in a lifetime destination. Grazie mille Kerstin & Susanna!"
La Badia, the house of happiness, the obscure light that falls from the stars
8/10 Good
"The property is on the hill, where traditional village has been kept in its original state. Amazing place. Very nice people. Far enough from the loud tourists.
Difficult to park, in the evening times, when the restaurant guests are parking in the local car park.
Make sure you have some fans with you. Necessary during summr temperatures.
As this is an old buiding, it smells damp and walls are showing a bit of and this is probable the cause of some insects in the bedding, which bitten us terribly during the night.
Kitchen and bathroom in good condition.
Two beds, one in the upstairs is a king size bed with a very comfortable mattress and downstairs is a sofa bed, double size, with good firm sleep. Ceiling fan makes a lot of diffence by providing quiet blow with reverse turn setting.
On the top floor is an access to the small, shared with another house, sitting and clothes drying area. Useful in the evening times.
Beach is within 10 minutes drive. Nice and worm sea provides enough of fun in the water.
I am recomending visiting Carrara for food supply and plenty of good restaurants. Vaniglia Pizzeria is the best place to buy a pizza. All locals are getting their food there. Ice creams from Gelateria Rosellini are our favourite. Weekend gigs on the main square are amazing.
The best drive (20 minutes) is to Montemarcello village. Views, coffee and the village are amazing.
