Surrounded by hectares of woodland and arable fields, it represents an invaluable heritage. Generations who have lived here, from my grandparents to my father and his brothers, along with their sharecropping families, have drawn sustenance from its fertile lands. During the Second World War, this estate stood as an example of harmony and solidarity, surviving through a coexistence of obligations, rights, and duties, while keeping traditions alive even in the most difficult times."Barghini" is not just the name of the street where Villa del Nonno stands; it also represents the connection with my father's uncle, the local "Lord" of the village who allowed my grandfather and his family to live in this house, expressing the desire that it be cared for and passed down to his favourite nephew, my father Cesare, the grandfather of my children. It is here, in this countryside, that I learned from my grandfather and father to recognize the sounds of birds, identify forest mushrooms, tend to fruit trees, and appreciate the serenity and beauty of sunsets.This house has also taught my children, through their grandfather, to love rural life in all seasons, to enjoy the simplicity of ingredients, and to experiment with recipes passed down by their grandmother.
