There's a market every Friday morning at Castello de Vide and the last Fri of the month is the big one. Good place to buy your salted cod! ;-)
Castelo de Vide is a Portuguese town in the district of Portalegre, Alentejo region and sub-region of Alto Alentejo with about 2300 inhabitants. It is the seat of a municipality with 264.91 km ? and 3407 inhabitants (2011), divided into 4 parishes. The municipality is bordered by Spain northeast, east by the municipality of Marv?o, south by the municipality of Portalegre, the southwest by the municipality of Crato and west and northwest by the municipality of Nisa. The romantic character of the town of Castelo de Vide, associated with its gardens, plenty of vegetation, mild climate and proximity to the Serra de S?o Mamede, became known as the "Sintra of Alentejo" (this term is attributed to King D. Pedro V ).

The hotel is very clean and charming. The staff were exceptionally nice. The breakfast buffet was particularly impressive, offering a wide variety of options. The pool area was also clean, but needs a little love.

We spent seven days here in April, 2023. This is a lovely village with everything you might need for a great time. Restaurants were exceptionally good. The people were very nice and outgoing. Bikes provided by Peter & Rosemary at their wonderful cottage for rent: www.wildportugal.com . The round trip ride from the cottage to Castelo do Vide is about 14 miles and only saw a few cars. Very cool and alien landscape.
