About this property
Cedar Hill Depot: Historic charmer 3 blocks from the Gulf
Welcome to the Cedar Hill Depot house where character and comfort meet.
Built in the early 1950's it has endless charm, and with the recent renovations you also get all the comforts of today. At 650 sq ft the studio style cabin offers a spacious feel. The unique and fun train theme gives a special touch of history from the area. The train that linked East and West Florida from 1861 until 1932 was brought all the way to Cedar Key and played a big part in making this bustling little community. **We ask that all guests be over the age of 18.
At just 3 easy walking blocks from the water and 2 block from the delicious dining options of 2nd St, you won't need to drive unless you really want to. The famous Cedar Key Fishing Pier is less than a half mile and while you're out there check out the shops and restaurants on the water, the views at sunset can't be beat!
The bedroom is separated from the main living area but does not have a door. There is a comfortable Queen sized bed there and a cozy feel.
The main living area has a Queen sized sofa bed along with additional seating to comfortably have 4 people gathering together.
The kitchen is small with basic amenities. There is a sink, small refrigerator, cups, coffee and coffee maker and some disposable utensils and plates. You will want to plan on eating out or bringing food back for your meals as this kitchen isn't really made for cooking.
There is 1 full bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet. You'll also find shampoo, conditioner, soap and plush towels.
Outside there is a covered front porch with seating so you can enjoy the fresh air and watch the fountain in the yard.
Getting to Cedar Key usually takes a car but with this fabulous central location you might not need it once you get here. To get into the home itself you'll climb a few stairs but once inside it's a single level.
Parking for 1 car in the white gravel area in front of the cabin where it says train parking, park to the far left next to the fence. See map in the photos for location.

Convenient location and clean, comfortable accommodations. Great response from management to questions and the onsite owner was exceptionally pleasant and helpful, would stay there again.
What a quaint place to stay for my sister and I. We so enjoyed walking around the island checking out the shops and restaurants. We’ll definitely be back!
Staying at the Cedar Hill Depot was a great choice. Nice and clean, close to the little strip with restaurants, bars and the water. It is a super cute little cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.
We wanted a nice little weekend get away. We have never been to cedar key. The host communicated very quickly with all my questions from the time I booked the cottage. It was very clean and stocked with all the necessities. It was walking distance to 2nd street where we dined out and visited all the cute shops. We can’t wait to go back!
What a charming property! Easy access to everywhere. Met the owners who live next door. Very helpful with ideas for restaurants and things to do. We felt very welcome. cedar Key itself is a charming place. Only drawback on cottage is no cooking facilities except microwave. Other than that perfect!
It was our 31st anniversary and this was a perfect getaway for a couple of days.
The 'cabin' was clean, wonderfully furnished, quiet and very relaxing.
We have stayed in Cedar Key a number of times over the years so wanted to see how they fared thru the storms. Devastating for sure, but such great locals. The walk into town was short and easy so we ate and drank all all the open places we could find!
So, perfect quick trip and we definitely recommend the Cedar Hill Depot!!
Great location, walking distance(approx 1/2 mile) to town. Did everything we needed, location, sleeping arrangements. Shower is a little small, but usable. Parking is shared drive way so a full size truck would be hard, if not impossible, to park in designated spot. Luckily we took the mid size SUV.
Absolutely wonderful!!! I WILL be back!!
It is inviting, cozy, hidden, clean, and tucked right around the corner from…heaven!! ♥️

The property and the host and the area was wonderful. We very much enjoyed staying there. Incredible time kayaking with dolphins all around us, took a small airplane ride from a local pilot, which was wonderful to see the islands, rented bikes, and bikes all around the neighborhoods, great seafood, live music was great and the place we stayed in was Quaint and cute. The only thing we should have done was checked into whether there was a way to do some light cooking. No stove or a hot plate. But we were only there a few days so it was fine. All in all five stars.
The Cedar Hill Depot is a small studio-style accommodation. I am picky about cleanliness, and everything was very clean! The bed was also comfortable.
Be sure to read the listing carefully though. There is no separation between the living room and bedroom, so if your spouse is an early riser and you are not, it may not fit your vacation-style. Also, there is only a small microwave and a small refrigerator with a freezer section that will only hold maybe two ice trays. Keep this in mind when booking because you will need to eat out for most if not all of your meals.
The host and management team were both very nice and responded rather quickly.
Don't forget to schedule your day around the beautiful sunsets here - only a couple blocks to the most gorgeous sunset view!
Can’t say enough good things about our stay at Cedar Hill Depot VRBO.We arrived to find our mini home away from home for 2 nights tucked into a sandy floral adornment of an island-like little paradise complete with an abundance of tropical flora and fauna including multiple species of birds, mammals and amphibians. All this and more located just a short walk away from views of the sun setting over the Gulf waters.
Our living quarters were spacious, clean and comfortable. Most of the shops and eateries in the quaint little coastal town of Cedar Key were within easy walking distance. We stopped in at “Tony’s” for a sampling of their famous clam chowder and couldn’t get away without eating a couple of bowls. We also purchased several cans to take home for friends and family. We ate a tasty country style breakfast the next morning at Second Street Cafe and walked away satisfied and satiated. That afternoon after a nature walk and drive through the Lower Suwannee Nature Preserve, we stopped in at the Tiki Bar just off the main road for a refreshment and light meal.
We could not have had a more relaxing and enjoyable experience than we had there at Cedar Key which was highlighted by meeting and having conversations with the delightful owner/proprietor of CHD. This was a rare 5 star experience for sure!
