The Space:
Ideally located in the Cannonborough Elliotborough neighborhood of Charleston, this one-bedroom carriage house provides a wonderful taste of the city's history and charm, as well as easy walking access to an endless assortment of restaurants, landmarks, and boutiques downtown. This comfortable space is accented by original hardwood floors, a full bathroom on each of the two levels, a private washer/dryer for your ease and convenience, and a fully equipped kitchen with every essential. Leave your car in the provided off-street parking space, and spend balmy afternoons relaxing outside on your private patio. At night, you'll have a loft-style bedroom with a beautiful, queen-size rice bed, an 18th-century style originated by the acclaimed craftsman Thomas Elfe. This type of bed was designed to allow for better air circulation throughout the hot summer, offering four posts that have been intricately carved with images of rice and tobacco, two crops that defined Southern agriculture at the time. In the living room, you'll find a cable TV and an additional sleeper sofa as well.

We had a great stay touring College of Charleston with our daughter, great location for walking to campus and King street! The house was just as described, very charming!
Our family visited Charleston for a long weekend. We found the property to be exceptionally clean and well kept. We enjoyed the walkable proximity to King Street and local attractions (we visited the Aquarium and Fort Sumter). We especially enjoyed the welcome coffee. Thank you for hosting us!
Wonderful guest house within walking distance of historic Charleston. The bed was very comfortable. The temperature was nice and cool. The place was great! Perfect for our needs. 12/10 would stay there again!
The property listing was spot on. Being an older home some of the older appliances are in need of updating but they did operate fine. Overall it was a nice visit to this historic area.
Good location. Place needs a few fixes - fridge drips water on food, sofa cushions sink backwards, screen door doesn’t close fully- otherwise nice place!
Everything we needed. Super cozy, just the right size, super clean. We loved how it was old but modern. You could see and feel the craftsmanship of the original builders but felt the new modern updates.
Overall good location. Parking is available but very narrow driveway so pull in back out. We had a minivan so a little bigger. Steep staircase to upstairs bed. Nice that it has 2 bathrooms.Liked that they had bath soap and shampoo as well as laundry and diswasherdetergent!
Absolutely lovely two story location that met every one of our needs and was so comfortable (and withstood a hurricane!). Very private and quiet, but only a block or two to food, coffee, etc. As others have mentioned, it is a good mile to get to the point, but we like walking and didn't find it an issue. The only minor annoyance was that the door code was 10 digits and you also had to punch in 10 digits to lock it when leaving. We ended up with the key from the lockbox which was much more manageable. We really enjoyed our stay!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, listing accuracy
Disliked: Communication
Met our requirements but not great.
Our experience there was a mixed bag.
The good points I can list:
The keypad door lock meant we didn’t have to mess with keys. The A/C and heat worked well. Shower water pressure and temperatures were good. The bed was very comfortable once you managed to climb into it. My wife had to use the steps provided to get into it. The internet worked well as did the TV with streaming apps and cable. Having 2 bathrooms, one up and one down was definitely a plus.
The downsides:
Furniture other than the bed was awful. Extremely uncomfortable couch and one awkward easy chair in the main room. No chairs at all on the 2nd level – a problem with the high bed. Arrangement of the couch in the main room made watching TV difficult.
The kitchen appliances were iffy. The dishwasher upper rack threatened to fall out every time it was pulled out. The dishwasher was so loud, we went upstairs to the TV. The stove has a burner that didn’t work. The microwave worked but was probably the slowest microwave I’ve ever used. Coffee maker and toaster both worked well. Fridge was not fancy but worked well.
The spray for the kitchen sink didn’t work.
The place is advertised as sleeping 4, with two on the sofa bed. Interestingly, there are only two chairs for the dining table.
My impression is more of mix of "charming" with “first off-campus apartment for a college student – and not a very expensive one at that."
The property manager didn't do anything about our reported problems.
This Vrbo stay is a good size for 1-3 guests. There is 1 large bed upstairs and a sofa bed downstairs. I really liked that there were 2 full bathrooms, especially staying with 2 other people. It is definitely an older property. The location was quiet and suitable for a family. It is a smaller house off of the main property, and it suited our needs for a short stay.
