The Neighborhood:
Visitors can enjoy convenient dining options directly next door at Southbound and Ladles Soup across from the apartment. The home is set in Cannonborough, an inviting downtown area blending historic and stylish residential homes. It’s steps away from the College of Charleston, as well as Upper King Street’s eateries and shopping.
Getting Around:
We are only 3 blocks from Upper King Street, so most guests prefer to walk and explore the city. The beach is 15 minutes away by car. There is also a free shuttle offered by the city that runs along King Street (3 blocks away) to popular stops. Bike rentals are available nearby or you might enjoy trying a pedicab taxi. We offer free parking on site or in the lot we manage across the street.
Other Things to Note:
We are three blocks from King Street, right in the middle of all Charlestonian activity. Incredible restaurants such as Southbound, Verns, 167 Raw, Malagon, Indaco, and Azur. Great places to have drinks are even closer at places like Felix, Stars, Babas, and Prohibition. There are also great niche restaurants closer than King Street, such as coastal Italian at Allora or creative Indian at Rivayat. If you want the full Charleston experience, a walking tour or carriage tour is a must. If you have sea legs and are aiming for total immersion into history, the steamboat runs to Ft. Sumter daily and you can land your two feet exactly where the Civil War started.
Interaction with Guests:
We are available for questions and we're glad to assist in any way we can.

Great property, interesting mix of restaurants & single family homes as neighbors. Quiet setting only a few minutes of walking to the activity of King Street. Very friendly town & food scene exceptional. Only regret is that we could only stay a few days next time we need a longer vacation in Charleston with Thr Chaestonian as home base. .
Beautiful property, great location!!! Everything we needed and more. The convience to King St was perfect. The Restaurant Southbound right next door and Ladles was a very nice surprise. It was quiet enough in the evenings and we felt perfectly safe walking around town.
We loved our stay! I’m a stickler about cleanliness of rentals and this unit was so clean. The couch was comfy, the linens on the bed were nice, the location was great. We traveled with our 18 month old and the owners graciously provided a high chair, pack n play, and toys which were delivered to the room for us. It worth noting that the entrance to this unit is up a spiral staircase but it gave us no issues as able bodied adults. Would absolutely stay again.
it was exactly as described. we had the best experience and the robes were a nice addition to our stay. in very close proximity to the restaurant Southbound. will highly recommend staying at the Charlestonion to friends and family traveling to Charleston. will be back!!
It was a fabulous location! It was very convenient to downtown. The first day we walked and did all the things downtown. The apartment was beautiful and very well decorated. The only thing I would suggest is a TV in the bedroom.

I liked the way the property was decorated and it was in a very good location. The only thing we didn’t like was the circular outside staircase to the outside. A bit difficult on our old bodies.!Web would come back but would want a ground floor unit.
I can’t say enough good things about this home. It’s gorgeous, perfectly decorated, cozy, the bed is so comfy (this really matters to us when vacationing), located in the best spot, and in a super safe area. The staff were super responsive to the one need we had. We enjoyed being in the home just as much as we did exploring downtown. There are 3 AMAZING restaurants/eateries within a 2-3 minute walk. We are already planning our trip back. This one is a must.
Two block walk to king street. Property has a driveway but it’s not the easiest to back out of into traffic.
Unless you’re local, I’d recommend not bringing a car - Uber ride downtown is $10 - parking downtown is $20.
Restaurant right in front of the property is GREAT. Neighborhood is quiet, even if with the restaurant in front of the house.
Zero complaints. Great stay.
This was our second stay here and we can’t wait to come back! Randall is the sweetest! The place is decorated so nicely and it is spotless. The details seal the deal. The mattress is beyond comfy and they have a sound machine so you don’t have to pack one. I love the bathrobes waiting for us in the bathroom. And the round ice cubes ready for your drink are such a sophisticated touch. Oh and the location is amazing! Our favorite restaurant, Southbound is right next door! We LOVE staying here!!!
The Charlestonian is a beautiful place to stay. The location made getting in and out of downtown very easy. The staircase is tricky but manageable. And the claw foot tub looks great but the shower curtain will cling to you if you don’t situate it just right! Maybe a loner that has some suction cups would help. And bring a smaller vehicle if you have a choice. Parking is tight but manageable. Loved our trip. Will find out way back to Charleston one day.
The property was clean and well maintained. A lot of thought and time was spent making the space beautiful! The owners were helpful when needed and the information binder was helpful.
My only caution to others would be the spiral staircase. If you are a bit older (like us) it is a challenge when bringing up luggage, and after a long day of walking it was a challenge. The toilet closet in the bathroom is quite small.
Overall it is a nice space.
The accommodations are beautifully appointed! Located next to the excellent new restaurant Southbound, where they cook everything with open fire, there was always a delicious and comforting waft in the air. Walking to coffee shops and restaurants as well as downtown was totally enjoyable through the charming neighborhood and Ubers had no trouble finding us. The spiral staircase is a fun reminder that you’re entering an exclusive property… I suppose it would be challenging if you get dizzy, are a plus sized person or wear very short skirts. We didn’t have any of those issues so we loved it. Bed and linens were all very comfortable. Really loved everything, including the property managers/owners (met 2 of the 3) and would absolutely stay here again on future visits. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Great location and unit, issues with parking and communication
The location was amazing. Close to tons of great restaurants and bars, and right across the street from the bridal party for the wedding we were attending. The apartment itself was pretty cool — spacious and well decorated. The kitchen seemed well stocked — pots, pans, measuring cups.
The listing says they have parking and we were given instructions to park right next to the unit. However, there were already cars parked where we were supposed to be. George responded promptly, suggesting we try the other side of the unit, and if that was full (it was), to go across the street. We did that, but there was a broken down fork lift blocking most of the driveway. We could just squeeze past it in a midsized SUV, but I was nervous I’d be scraping paint off at some point. It was moved after a couple days. George apologized for parking being a mess. However all the vehicles in the first parking spaces were for other units that they rent, so it seems they overpromised on parking being available. Or it is just first come first serve.
After one of us showered, someone in the downstairs unit started banging on the door saying that water was leaking into their place. Two guys came to our unit very quickly to investigate, and said that they’d be back later to fix it, while we were at a wedding. I messaged them three times over 24 hours to see if it was fixed. No response until we were checking out. Things break and it’s not a big deal, but the lack of communication was frustrating.
The Charlestonian was beautifully decorated, clean and in a perfect location. We were within walking distance to many restaurants and a short drive to all the beaches. The bed is very comfortable and all sheets/towels were provided which made it very convenient and easy to pack. We would absolutely stay here again.
