Newly Renovated close to Downtown & Folly Beach

Completely renovated in January 2022, Highland Cottage offers the perfect location in laid-back James Island, a suburb of Downtown Charleston. Ideally located 4 miles from Historic Downtown Charleston and 7 miles from Folly Beach. The cottage is equipped with a full-service kitchen with brand new appliances, Rinnai gas hot-water heater and outdoor grill. Within a one-block easy walk, you have access to many restaurants and one block from Starbucks. We are also only 1 block away from the closest public bus stop with access to Downtown Charleston. Beach chairs and a cooler are onsite and available to our guests. Great affordable option for visiting Charleston.

Excellent location and so clean!

Excellent location for a stay in Charleston! Two bedrooms and two baths and all the amenities if you want to go to the beach or just hang out around the fire pit. Communication with the host was amazing and cleanliness was top notch!

Just Perfect for Girls Trip

Everything was perfect. Good location, not too far from downtown or the beach! We had a great time, and the owners were very responsive to us. Check-in and out was a breeze. We will definitely stay again next time we are in Charleston!

The cottage is in a great location. You can walk/run for pleasure or exercise.It's close to downtown, not too far from the beach and other attractions.It's a comfortable size for 4 adults.The property is well kept.

Amazing Experience!

We had a great overall experience from check-in to check-out. Communication was great, location was easy to find, and instructions for the stay were clearly communicated.We arrived to an ice maker full of ice and cold AC. The location is extremely convenient to all the local restaurants, grocery stores and a short drive to Folly Beach or Downtown. Beds were comfortable and clean as was the rest of the property. It was great to have two bathrooms for those post beach showers and the outside had an outdoor shower and hose for rinsing off if needed.We didn't utilize all the outdoor amenities in our short stay, but it was great to have beach chairs provided so we didn't have to bring our own.Overall we had an amazing experience and would highly recommend.

Bright Lovely Well-situated Spot

Kit's little getaway was perfect for our family of 4. The rooms were quiet and we never heard either street noise or people in the adjacent unit. The kitchen was well-appointed although we mostly dined around town. The countertop ice machine was a nice bonus! Our communication was easy and quick, parking was easy and generous, and we regret not having time to enjoy the outdoor sitting area in the yard.

Great stay!!

Could not say enough great things about this rental!! The Host was SO helpful and accommodating to our group. The house was a hidden gem, was so clean, beautiful and the perfect size. The rental is a short Uber ride to downtown.

2 Weeks on James Island

My wife and I spent 2 weeks over the 2024 Christmas and New Years. Or stay at the cottage was very convenient for us. Shopping and restaurants were abundant and workout facilities were a plus, all in waking distance. The cottage was well stocked and clean. Beds were comfortable.

Quaint getaway

The house is in a great location that made exploring the area really easy. The extra beach chairs, towels, and cooler wound up being a real big help. It was one of those thoughtful things that really made our stay excellent.

Tremendous Stay

Everything was perfect. She has everything a person needs in this apartment-coffee, laundry supplies, shampoo, beach towels and chairs, and when I enquired about an issue, she was there taking care of it the next morning (and it was a very minor question). Location was so convenient to Folly Beach, downtown, plantation and restaurants within walking distance.

Great place

This place met all of our needs from the location to all of our activities. The kitchen is will stocked with appliances and even comes with outdoor grill and a fire pit if you choose to use it. The beds are very nice. All in all you couldn't ask for a better place to stay.

We loved our location as a landing place for our many excursions into Charleston and around the Islands. 1000 feet from the busy Folly road was our peaceful, welcoming cabin. Comfortable & Quiet Vacation Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at this comfortable cottage in its quiet & well situated neighborhood. We were close to the beaches & downtown Charleston. The restaurants, Martin’s & Gillies were very good & in walking distance. This house was clean & well stocked with everything you need for a great vacation. Our only issue was the television & if you’re used to streaming your programs it won’t be an issue. We highly recommend this cozy little place.

Safe and peaceful

This location is in a safe, quiet neighborhood. Wonderful BBQ restaurant in the back door. Wood for fire pit outside. Quick drive to Charleston or folly beach. Kit is wonderful to deal with. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Great Location and a Really Nice Property

This is a great place to stay, but you really need a car if you want to get around Charleston. It's about a 15 minute drive to the historic part. The place is great - 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Pretty quiet area. They have everything for a nice stay. Clean and well- maintained.

Best Host - 5 stars!

The listing was spot on! Kit, the owner, is absolutely amazing! She truly went above and beyond for us. Our last-minute stay, due to a family member in the Charleston Hospital, was made so much easier thanks to Kit's incredible hospitality. She is truly a fantastic owner!The house was even better than my own home. The little details were lovely. The outdoor space with a fire pit and grill was a nice touch. The beds were super comfy and there were plenty of restaurants and grocery stores nearby. The drive to Charleston Hospital was a breeze, which was the main reason for our stay at the VRBO. I highly recommend both the owner and this charming little VRBO! I can't wait to come back for a vacation under better circumstances and simply enjoy visiting Kit and her beautiful home! Perfect location, great host

Firstly to say how helpful,kind and friendly Kit is. She really goes out of her way to ensure you have the best experience possible. The property is in an ideal location with easy access to Charleston and Folly beach - although would definitely recommend you have a car. The neighbourhood is quiet and lovely , and there's a reasonable bar and restaurant at the top of the road. The accommodation was good, clean, comfortable, well stocked. There are even beach chairs and umbrella provided. That's in addition to the tandem, although we didn't test that out !! Would happily stay here again, and highly recommend.
