Downtown Carriage House | 1 BR Loft close to the historic downtown mall

This charming one bedroom carriage house in the heart of downtown Charlottesville offers southern elegance with modern convenience. The second floor loft combines a private, comfortable atmosphere with a desirable location offering easy access to 1-64 and within a mile from both UVA and 1/2 mile from the downtown mall. The second story living space was designed with luxury, comfort and privacy in mind. Sitting above an enclosed garage, the carriage house offers a living room, full chef’s kitchen, private bedroom and full bathroom that was renovated in the summer of 2018.

The separate bedroom offers high quality bedding with top of the line linens and a gorgeous view of Monticello and Brown’s Mountain. The main living space has a pull-out queen sofa, LCD television with Sonos Soundbar, desk space, and wireless internet. The large chef’s kitchen offers a full size refrigerator and dishwasher, as well as ample counter space for meal preparation. We offer tableware and utensils for you to use at your leisure during your stay. You may also enjoy dining on the back deck or sitting on the outdoor couch and taking in the comfort and relaxing atmosphere as you overlook a private wooded lot.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Downtown Carriage House. The property is centrally located and easy to walk to the Art Park, downtown shops and restaurants. The property was clean and well equipped. Definitely recommend for a weekend stay in Charlottesville.

Wonderful weekend getaway

Quaint but Modern

We enjoyed this property . The amenities are modern, but there is a hint of country-living that makes this place unique. This place was perfect for a quick weekend getaway to taken in the local wineries.

Good for small family

If your kids can handle the sofa bed, this is a great stay for Charlottesville. Located near downtown but outside of a convenient walk for most downtown attractions etc. Good option for Charlottesville and would repeat.

Great experience

Property was great, super clean and modern. Great location, 5 min from downtown mall 5 min to stadium. It was quiet and great. There were a few spiders in the unit we had to kill and webs we had to knock down, but other then that It was very clean. Would stay again!

Perfect for a weekend getaway!

We loved spending a long weekend at the Carriage House! Beautifully designed, well appointed, quiet space that was conveniently located for all our activities. The beds were incredibly comfy! We even got to spot a white (leucistic) deer while hanging on the great porch. We would have enjoyed having a few decks of cards or games for family fun, but otherwise we had everything we needed! Would definitely return!

As Advertised

Nice property, very clean, everything was as advertised. We only had one issue. On the morning of checkout we realized the dishwasher did not work. It's possible there was something quirky about it and we didn't jiggle the handle in the proper way but we just hand washed the dishes we had used, no big deal but the owner will want to check this out. Other than that one small issue, everything was fine. We would stay here again!

Lovely Private Carriage House

Lovely private carriage house close to downtown and close enough to UVA. Great deck in the tops and lots of privacy. Bills as 2 beds, because of a sleeper sofa, but the sleeper sofa is a bit broken down and not comfortable for an adult. Terrific option if you don't need the sleeper sofa.

Great stay but the stoop needs fixing

We really enjoyed our stay but the rocks at the entry way are loose and need to be stabilized. I tripped entering the building and don’t want it to happen to someone else. Otherwise, this was a very clean, charming place to stay.

Comfortable Carriage House apartment with garage

The Carriage House was just what we needed for our stay in Charlottesville for the weekend. Quiet, comfortable, and convenient with the bonus of our own indoor garage space. Our review would be 5 stars except as mentioned by previous reviewers, unit definitely would benefit from more attention to cleaning (dust, mildew in shower) - and from some basic updating (paint refresh, repair of stone block pad outside back door, etc.). Also a toilet paper holder would be a nice touch.

Great place

We stayed here over Thanksgiving visiting our daughter. Since her apartment did not allow dogs, this was perfect. Great sized kitchen. I did bring a few of my own pans as I read some were provided. Access in and around Charlottesville was great. Having a garage space to use was a big plus. It was raining when we arrived and it made it a lot easier unloading our car. Only thing I would recommend that could make it even better is to have a small chest or bench in the bedroom for the suitcases, and a toilet paper roller on the wall so that you didn’t have to reach behind you for the roll in the basket. These don’t impact my rating, only small things that would be helpful. Very nice place. Better than a hotel.

Great Weekend Stay in Charlottesville

Had a great and simple stay in this property while in Charlottesville for the weekend. Check-in was slightly complicated when my assigned door code didn't work, but Stay Charlottesville was quick to respond with a working code. The property was exactly as described and the added bonus of the garage space was fantastic, especially with the heavy rain that came in on our final day (loading up the car while dry was a great bonus). The only minor recommendation I have would be for the property to have a another cleaning pass beyond the routine floors, countertops, and bathrooms: there were a few locations where dust and cobwebs had accumulated. The floors, Countertops, kitchen, and bathrooms were all spotless, just needed another once-over around the areas that don't get attention as much. Overall was a great experience that I would recommend and would stay again.
