Staff was great, and it’s very clean. You pretty much need a car though to get anywhere. Lake Forest downtown is a good 5 to 10 minute drive.

This is by far the best hotel that I have stayed at in 30 yrs. The room was spotless, staff the extremely polite and helpful. The restaurant is fantastic. Unfortunately, I will most likely never come back to Chicago.

Very welcoming. At first I was taken aback as there isn't too much around. But a full service restaurant and easy drive to downtown Forest Lake and Vernon Hills made it more fun. I loved the room. And the gym. Am here on business and by myself. Staff is friendly, helpful and courteous. I felt safe and would rate my stay as excellent! Thank you.

After Christmas we joined a few friends for a weekend of shopping and dinner. I wanted a mini staycation and found The Forester to be a nice option for the night… arrival and check in was quick and pleasant. Our room was clean and I loved the seating area, there was plenty of space to move around the room and to seat away from the beds. Water pressure in the shower was great. The only thing was the sounds coming from the HVAC unit… it sounded like ice cycles falling each time the unit came on… that would awaken me and my husband - our daughter didn’t seemed phased by the noise but she is a teenager! The noise would be my only complaint about the hotel. Check out was at noon, we didn’t get a chance to enjoy the hotel’s restaurant, but I would like to stay again to see how the food is. Since we stayed during the weekend ahead of Nee Years, I found the price to be on the higher end for a single nights stay…

Emergency shelter

We purchased a direct flight to Newark from Haneda Japan on Friday. Due to the Microsoft outages, our flight got canceled . Another flight landed us in Chicago out of somewhere that has nothing around but the hotel. Unfortunately the flight for Newark was canceled and the next available flight was Sunday 7/21 evening……. However we felt comfortable as we walked in the hotel. It is nice and clean and the room is big for double. We like it. The only complaint we have is that the hotel doesn’t provide toothpaste and there is no grocery or pharmacy stores around. We had to throw away the toothpaste through security check-in at the airport. So we couldn’t find any toothpaste for the stay. If the hotel has these little items for sale, it would be very nice. stay. The room should have a tissue box near the beds not just the bathroom. I recommend the hotel should have the travel size toothpaste and other monetary items at the beverage and snack area for sale. So we can buy it at the time of stay. Other than that it is nice and clean…….
