Everything was perfect except the room was a little outdated, no USB sockets, no shower curtain/door - the water from the shower spills on the floor. The temperature in the room was perfect without annoying A/C drafts.

Le Phenix Hotel was conveniently located within walking distance of the old town area of Lyon. Staff were friendly. The room was clean but the bathroom had a slightly awkward design. We upgraded to a river view room and it did have a view, but the windows were quite high and to be able to see the river you had to stand and peer out. I would probably stay at Le Phenix again but would opt for a lesser priced room as the river view wasn’t worth the extra expense.

My sons and I stayed for one night at the hotel Charlemagne so we could experience the city and the food culture it provided. We enjoyed the air conditioning the hotel had to offer in the rooms AAA we happened to hit a warm spell at the time of our visit. The lobby is fine, the elevators smaller than one might expect at a 4 star hotel, but all in all the photos of the facility are fairly accurate. It is a nice place to stay for the money you pay.

"Overnight stop to break up the journey from Calais to Alps, a bit unusual, but just what was needed, our son thought it very funny that he was in a bunk bed above our double bed, the room and facilities were a bit tight, but for an overnight stay they were all that we needed, and very clean and comfortable. ..."
