The property is in a lovely old government building with lovely architecture. Staff were excellent. There are steps leading up to the property which are tricky with heavy suitcases, however if you ask at reception they can open a side ramp up for you which was great. The property is very central and convenient for everything in Christchurch however we had a room at the front of the building, above the bar which was very noisy every night we stayed there. We did not find the bed comfortable as it was too soft, so sleep wasn’t great. Restaurant was excellent , all staff were great without exception. Thank you.

The best place we have stayed in for value for money. Character heritage building with palatial wide hallways and 5 m stud heights in rooms. Beautifull old school large windows , warm well heated rooms and block out curtains, zero road noise and comfy king beds. There is a 25 m lap pool with clean salt water( not chlorine) a sauna with actual wood heating and a well equipped gym. The most helpfull staff, We didn’t want to leave! Totally recommended best venue in chch.

Gorgeous Old Government Building kept up to a high standard. Old and thick walls meant quiet with little street noise. Excellent & lively pub on site. Location could not be closer to the Cathedral, trams and more. Loved it and Christchurch and can’t wait to return.
