"We had a partial view of the lake-room, which was lovely. Absolutely spotless and housekeeping did a fab job. The sky bar and the beach club are highlights, and the cocktails are great. Just be mindful that there is a HUGE construction site to the right of the hotel as you look at it. The builders start at 7.30. There was no pre warning of this, and it does affect the view. They don’t didn’t any special efforts , given that we were on honeymoon and made it clear on booking that we were, which was disappointing. Overall a great stay with helpful staff."

"The hotel is absolutely beautiful & well maintained in every detail. Kudos to the gardening staff for the magnificent surroundings bathed in the scent of jasmine. Spa experience (massage & facial) was excellent. My lake view superior room was lovely, clean. I’d think twice before staying here again for 1 reason: the sub-standard food. We dined at Il Borromeo 3 times & none of our dishes were hot nor prepared as ordered. They came out of the kitchen too quickly after ordering so we gathered they were pre-made. One night we ordered Wagyu steaks, medium rare. They were thin cut, served COLD & medium well; vegetables & sauce also stone cold. Sent them back & received well done meat. Sent that back & ordered the tagliata steaks, medium rare …got medium. The cacio e pepe was lukewarm, veal without flavor. The carbonara was also lukewarm & sticky rather than creamy. Bread was hard & lacked flavor. As for the breakfast served in Il Borromeo all the various croissants were dry (so disappointing). The lone bright spot for dining is Le Bistrot — the poolside snack bar! Great food there. Other small things need work: water bottles not replaced during our 4 day stay, no mint at turndown is odd for a 5-star, CNN not working even though we reported it twice. At check in Reception did not have a record of my pre-booked spa appointment & said *I* should call the spa to confirm. (Umm, no, that’s your job, Sir.) Restaurant staff more concerned about breaking down tables than serving guests."

"It was 6 min walking distance from train station and close to ferry station. When we came in the gas stove was turned on and the bathroom door wouldn’t close, my 12 year old son was not happy about not having privacy to use the bathroom. I sent a message stating this and it wasn’t answered. The pictures of the property must have been professional pictures because the pictures give the impression of a nice updated property and it’s not updated. It had a kitchen but a very small amount of dish soap, no paper towels… I don’t know why it has pictures making it seem that it’s with a view of the lake when it isn’t, it’s within walking distance but there’s no lake view. I wanted to leave property but I was only there for 2 nights so I stuck with it."

Grand hotel, great beach, beautiful rooms, great breakfast, but as others note, you pay 25 to park for a day, in fact more if you use the car because payment is per hours capped at 25. We asked for iron. No. Not possible. Leave with staff and they will iron, I guess tomorrow.. and do on."

The hotel is beautiful but there are one or two things that I would expect in a five star hotel namely - no mirror in the bedroom, no heating, the room was very chilly, the safe is far too small and the water wasn’t very hot. Nothing major was wrong but just a few niggles that shouldn’t have to be brought to the staff’s attention."
