Footpath in Coddington This footpath, from by the village pond in Coddington, leads directly to the old rectory, which is the white house. On the far left is the old school, now the village hall, and the clump of trees in the middle of the field is recorded as a 'mound' on modern maps, and a 'Tumulus' on the 1882 O.S. map. On the right of the photo the old sandstone bridge carries the road to Aldersey over Coddington Brook. St Mary's Church is almost invisible behind the clump of trees.

Farmland and Mound at Coddington. Viewed from the lane opposite the parish room at Coddington. The clump of trees in the field disguise an ancient mound or tumulus, depending upon which map you look at. A public footpath runs across the field to the left of the mound - see 412362 .

Village Pond at Coddington Sadly one of the old trees on the edge of this picturesque village pond has fallen into the water. The minor road on the right continues down the hill towards Coddington Mill.

Graveyard Wall at Coddington St Mary. Viewed from Aldersey lane, this section of the graveyard wall runs between the church steps on the left, see 414565, and the gate to the old rectory on the right. About halfway along, between the wooden pole and the rectory gate, there is an inscribed stone with the name of at least one church warden, and the date 1748. This stone would seem to date the wall. Also see 414583 .

Very nice clean hotel with efficient and pleasant staff. Very good location. Walking distance to town centre. Paying for parking was a disappointment as we thought car park was included as when we booked it said parking at rear but no mention of payment.
