"The cottage itself was lovely. A really nice chilled week, however the property just required a bit of TLC, it is just looking a bit tired and rough in some areas and the cleanliness was average to say the least. Some plates had been put away dirty and there was cobwebs in several of the rooms. The location was pretty good and it was only 30 minutes in to Glasgow and Ayr is nearby. Overall I would give a 7/10."

"This was our first visit to the West Highlands and we were not disappointed. A beautifully maintained resort within a spectacular setting. We had planned to visit the islands during the week but found so much to do locally we decided to save the islands for a future visit. "Although I filled in a questionnaire and handed it in at Melfort Village reception when I left I have completed this one as well because I really enjoyed my week there.The weather was lovely and the views to die for. My friends and I had a day on Luing with lunch at the Atlantic Islands Centre which was excellent. "In a week of rain we managed to find many dry days. The location of the village was outstanding with views of the loch and an abundance of birdlife ( I counted 40 species in the area in the week). Melfort has great access to the isles through Oban and the coastline along the A 816 offers opportunities for gardens (Arduaine) and loch views from Ardfern. "I have rated this stay high because it was excellent value for money. Obviously the area and views are outstanding. Our room was clean and comfortable and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We decided to have dinner at the hotel because they had great options and the Korma we ordered was probably the best I’ve ever had. It was delicious and fresh and we were so impressed with the quality of the food for the price. It’s my 2nd time staying at this hotel and it’s been pleasant both times. It is much cheaper than other options in the area and I can honestly say the food was 10/10. We also had a great restful sleep! They have a hot tub & sauna for guests to use and the pool table was free to use for guests also, which was ideal. Thank you, we will come again!"
