  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

American Series Open

My friend and I stayed here while attending the Arnold. It was an easy walk to the convention center (less than 10 mins). The apartment was adequate for our stay and we enjoyed it. I like the separate living area and it could double as another bedroom as the couch folds out. Overall it was a great stay.

Where the action is!

This unit is right on High street right where the action is! This area is full of restaurants and cafes. I was at a conference and that walk was a straight shot to the convention center. There was a convenience store just a few shops away (United Dairy Farmers). I recommend TownHall for breakfast and for lunch/dinner try Nida's Thai on High! This rental is for the able-bodied with two flights of stairs. What mattered most was that I got a good night's sleep, the AC worked, and was able to get to where I needed to go. The night life was entertaining! If that is was I was after, there was so much choice. This was a great home-base for the time I was was in Columbus!

Great Location

I stayed with my husband for 3 nights while in town for a football game. Pros: Great location. Close to many of our favorite restaurants and bars. Very spacious. Plenty of room for 2 people. We weren't in the apt. much, but if you need to be, there is plenty of room. Price. Cheaper than hotel. Cons: Two sets of steep stairs to access the apt. and shower is attached to clawfoot tub and might be difficult for older renters. Should probably be mentioned in listing. (The main picture isn't part of the apt or building. It is a restaurant down the street. Little misleading as a main picture for the unit.) I gave a 4 for cleanliness. I have a few things to discuss with the owner about the items supplied and items not supplied by the cleaning service, but hopefully it is an easy resolve.

Great Location!!

This was a wonderful location in Short North! The amenities were great in the unit. I had one incident trying to get into the unit and contacted management. They responded very quickly and were a huge help. It was clearly user error lol. The only thing I wish were different is, it said it slept four. There was only 1 queen bed that slept 2 people and a vintage sofa that did not pull out and only slept 1 person and not very comfortably. Luckily, my party only had 2 ppl and we were able to use the queen bed. Other than that. This was a very good experience and I would definitely stay here again.

Great location

The place is in a great place! Right on the short north within walking distance of several bars and restaurants. There were some hidden costs (Additional parking fee after arrival). The garbage disposal didn't work and there were no oven mitts but that aside, the place was great for the price and the main selling point was definitely its location.

Awesome Sauce!

I don't want to sound overly excited or to happy but, this place is awesome! If you want to explore Columbus this is the address you want to call home. Coffee shop right across the street. Bar for drinks and food right next door. Shopping ..go right or left it won't matter, because everything is right at your door.
