Located across from Aransas Bay, this recently remodeled 1BR cottage features a sunning deck, a shaded picnic area by the water, and a private pier. You’ll also enjoy a private backyard and patio with a charcoal grill.

On the Water

This is a great location if you are there to fish or just relax! It has a great pier and is close to the center of everything! It's not fancy but great for just two. The management was super dealing with our concerns.

Wood bathroom floor slats were buckled and not able to close bathroom door, several window shades not working and had to be rolled up by hand, AC unit in front room does not provide adequate cooling. Note this was my second stay at Joy’s cottage this year. The location is great and we love the pier.

Beautiful view, private pier a few steps away. Very quiet on a one-way street, located in a friendly neighborhood where people walk their dogs and ride their bikes and say hello when they pass you. Less than 10 minutes to an area of Rockport that has several places to eat, both local establishments and chain restaurants as well. The house has window, air conditioners, but we enjoy the background noise because we were both raised at a time when we used box fans in the summer to keep cooler rather than air conditioning. The house was clean, and we felt safe and secure there. Not fancy, but well worth the price.

Had issues with no hot water or gas for stove but it was fixed with in 24 hours . Wish dishes and house was cleaner . Had a safety issue in living room . There was no cover on an electric outlet on the wall of bed that my younge daughter could have hurt herself badly with . Could not walk in the house barefoot due to not being able to prevent tracking stickers through the house . Did have good fishing at dock and good view .

Fabulous location, house needs work

The location is perfect. The dock is perfect, the water super clear, it's close to everything. The house is a historic gem: it has withstood so many hurricanes. It's really sad to see it in such a state of disrepair. For example, there is an obious leak under the shower that is bowing the wood (original wood floor). A lot of things are old and about to break. But overall, we had a really good stay. I would still recommend this place, but adjust expectations.

Labor Day Getaway

Joys Beach Cottage is a cute little place to stay. It was close to restaurants, shopping and the beach. My daughter and husband were able to fish on the pier, and most everything we needed such as dishes, cookware, utensils, etc.. were provided. Both the owner and the rental agency were quick to answer any questions and took care of any concerns promptly.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The little cottage by the sea has a beautiful view and the private pier is awesome for watching the sunrise and sunset. Nina the manager of the property was very responsive and very patient and very helpful. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was adequately stocked with cookware and all we needed. There are steps from the sitting area into the dining/kitchen area. The location was convenient for walking to downtown for meals and shopping and also for the tourist spots. Water Street has a fascinating history and is a fun walk. I would definitely stay again.

The Joy cottage

It’s everything a cottage is supposed to be , enjoyed the stay would go there again and will recommend it to my friends and family. The fishing was great with the exception of the lighting it needs more lighting Joy have your maintenance guy install a few more lights and you will be set . Also correct your listing because it stays a 20 foot pier when it’s every bit of 200 foot . That alone will get you more customers. Over all expect me and my group to return soon . Love you guys keep up the good work 🎣. Joe

Room window unit air conditioners did not work properly; ceiling fan made terrible noises--could not use the one in the bedroom; bathroom, especially shower were very small; only 4 washcloths provided for the entire week;more towels would also be nice.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Joy cottage is in a great location, right next to the bay, and quiet during the weekend. It’s at the end of an one way bayside road and little traffic. However, inside the fabrics are shabby and the beds are lumpy. The location though can’t be beat. There is a deck in front where it is great for drinking coffee in the early morning. There is construction next door, but they aren’t obnoxious. Some of the lamps need new lightbulbs, but there is adequate ceiling lights. I would recommend this rental if it could be updated with new mattresses and fabric coverings.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Coming to Rockport for over 50 years still remains a joy. Bringing our two grandchildren every year for the past 17 years has been even better. This little house was fun because it is one of the last original Water street fishing camp houses. All was as explained in the rental agreement except for pier damage(no tee head and no lights). Also apparently the management told two couples renting other property on the street that the pier in front of Joy's was used by several rentals. Very nice couple but with four of them on the short pier morning, afternoon and evening it would have been crowded for four more people and fishing in the evening was impossible. The house needs a thorough, move the furniture, cleaning. Beds were uncomfortable, new mattresses needed. We were disappointed in back yard care which is where we had our coffee out of the sun. Chairs were dirty and table chairs scattered and yard chairs were at the table. We felt we were paying what you asked and all should have been perfect. Overall the little place needs some attention and updating.
