On the rugged coast of the Spanish part of Catalonia you’ll find the whopping 200 kilometre coastline Costa Brava. The Costa Brava is very popular with everyone, from retired couples looking for a little sun, families wanting to splash around in the waterparks to young groups looking for a good time.
Towns like Lloret de Mar, Calella and Blanes offer great nightlife are have the resorts want if you're planning on painting the town red. It’s here that you’ll also find most of the hotels targeted at young people. Resorts such as the historic Roses, Figueres, L'Escala and Tossa de Mar are more focused on families and elderly couples.
In the north of the Costa Brava you find a number of pleasant three star hotels and resorts, suitable for a nice family vacation or romantic trip for two. The northern area of the Costa Brava is by far the most culturally rich too. Figueres was once the home of Salvador Dalí, while Cadaques is an artists' village. Roses has an ancient fortress, beautiful winding streets and a private beach, while L'Escala offers great beaches on the Gulf of Roses, like the Platja d'Empuriabrava.
In the middle section of the Costa Brava you will find the beautiful city of Girona. It’s a little inland, but still only a short trip from the Les Gavarres mountains and picturesque beach towns, such as Castell, Platja d'Aro and Sa Riera.
The majority of the hotels on offer here have a three or four star rating with air conditioning, room service, free internet, pools, spa and sports facilities are all offered in the different hotels. There are big, spacious hotels, perfect for family trips, but also cosy B&Bs for couples and hostels for backpackers. There truly is something for everyone.
The south of the Costa Brava is where all the partygoers head for a bit of youthful hedonism. Coastal towns like Lloret de Mar, Malgrat de Mar, Blanes and Calella offer everything from affordable two and three star hotels all the way to luxury four star resorts where you can enjoy an all-inclusive holiday. This will give you all you need to recover in good order from the pervious night’s celebrations.
