Poor value for money

This hotel had been closed for several years and it is at proximity with my business place in Dar es Salam i was therefore eager to be able to finally go there ... but i was so happy that this was just for one night as I could not stand an additional day ...honestly very poor value for money ... i can t understand how u can close for two years and not revamp the hotel fully ...this is like cleaning a old hotel with no new tech or anything , noisy AC , very humid

They welcome you during check in with a bottle of cold water. Breakfast is excellent and includes fresh coconut juice as well as other standard items. Very nice veranda for informal meetings near the pool. Pick up and drop from airport was very efficient. The park next door is an amazing place - must be enjoyed. Altogether a relaxing and efficient stay

Good location and friendly service. Cleanliness is OK. However the hotel is being refurbished in spite of the need for a full renovation. Doesn't comply with a 4 star hotel by Southern Sun. Serious issue with ventilation as the main lobby and restaurant area smell like fish. Corridors and rooms smell fungus, and I had to keep the room window open all the time.

I travel all the time, and the Southern Sun is by far my favorite hotel. The staff treat you like family. The food is great. The rooms are very nice, clean, and comfortable. I highly recommend the hotel.

Very comfortable and friendly.

This is a very friendly and nice hotel. The rooms are modern, very comfortable and clean with good Wi-Fi and TV with decent channels. The best surprise of this hotel was the excellent restaurant for dinner. The menu was diverse and food was excellent and beautiful presentation. High compliments to the dinner chef. I had an Indian dinner that was exquisite and grilled fish dinner special that was cooked to perfection. I also appreciated that they let me extend my check out time since my flight wasn’t until later. They were so friendly about it all. The pool area is pleasant and the garden next door offers a nice walk.

Lovely stay and great service

I had a lovely stay at the Southern Sun. The service is terrific, very friendly, great cleaning. The breakfast is SO delicious. And, they are close to shops, and also the board walk along Barack Obama Rd for sunset runs.

After a brief 2 night stay in the Southern Sun Dar es Salaam, I would definitely recommend the hotel as great place to stay if you in Dar Es Salaam for business. On my request the hotel arranged for me to be collected from the airport by taxi quite late in the evening. Check in was quick and easy, and I was most impressed that there were no additional questions or queries about my booking and prepayment through Hotel.com. The room and bathroom were well maintained, neat and clean. WiFi and TV channels worked well. Hot water to shower was not a problem. The resturant and food was of a high standard, as was the breakfast serviced in the morning. The hotel is well positioned and relatively close to most business areas including the CBD, however traffic is heavy during peak hours and needs to be considered when setting meeting times. Overall good experience, will definitely stay in this hotel on my next business trip.
