The place was super welcoming and fun! It's definitely a unique stay and the host were very kind and easy to reach. The neighbourhood is quiet and we felt safe for our entire stay. The rooms were very spacious and everything was very clean. The view of the lake is gorgeous!

1970’s spacious retro basement suite. Lovely lake view and had coffee and wine down by the lake to watch the birds several times. Fun with the ping pong table too - what a nice addition. Was damp downstairs and dehumidifier was quite noisy. We still had a lovely time .
We went down with family to celebrate my mom’s birthday. Great location. Beautiful lakeside property. Lots of room and seating. Hosts were very accommodating and quick to respond to messages. We had a fantastic time and the kids loved the big yard to play in. It is a basement location so was a bit damp in the summer, which is expected with a basement but they had a dehumidifier running in one of the rooms.
We came to Halifax for a little get away. So the kids could swim and go fishing, and that is exactly what they did. The water front was perfect, kayaks available (2, with life jackets), paddle boat (needs new steering but it worked ok). The closed in sun room (needs better ventilation, and maybe a propane fire table to complete the setting). The add in itself was a bit mis leading. We didn’t realize that the owners reside on the same property (the upstairs portion of the home). This made a bit uncomfortable as we know our kids can get really loud when having a blast on “vacation”. We were on high alert for noise level because we didn’t want to upset the owners. At the end of the day, the owners did their thing and we did ours. They were helpful when needed and accommodating to our requests. A few things I will mention, for the sole purpose of bettering these mentions. The kitchen is super small and outdated, which is fine, but it def needs better air circulation, a bigger fridge (it’s camper fridge size!) and a few more utensils to complete it. We found the residents to be very damp! We would go to bed at night and our bedding, beds and pillows felt wet and moist. Even with de-humidifiers going. The bathroom was fine (damp), but water pressure was good. There was no remote for the heat pump, so we couldn’t turn it on. The tv didn’t work. All in all it was a nice stay, adults and kids had a great time, made new memories and had a ton of laughs.
The smell of sewage and scented cleaning products was over powering. Kitchen was too cold to work in.Shower head could be better. Black tiles and grout not very clean. Cold shower floor. They advertised a sauna, but it was locked, we could not use it. Great view of the lake.
We loved staying here. It met all our needs and was very clean. We would definitely stay here again. It was close to all the things we wanted to do in Cape Breton.
This is a nice big unit in a lovely area with a nearby walking trail around the lake. However, guests should be aware there are quite a few stairs to get into the unit and they have no railing. If you're carrying luggage up and down the stairs, it can be dangerous.
The room was very clean and easy to find with the instructions that were provided. Quiet neighborhood. It is a garden level apartment so only suggestion for improvement would be better lighting as the rooms were somewhat dark. Thank you!
The check in process was very smooth and overall everyone loved the place.

Lake View Condo
We enjoyed our week in Halifax, and Caroline was a very gracious host. She was always available for any questions we had and check-in was easy. The property is lovely, with a view of the lake. It is very large, with lots of room for many guests. Although it had some updates, parts of the home were quite dated (kitchen) but it had an older charm that you don't get with newer builds. All in all, we enjoyed our stay very much.

Everything was nice, but there was no railings on the stairs to the basement. Also the TV did not work and the ownerdid not rely to our questions.

Very old mattresses
I was dissapointed in the very old and worn mattress on both beds. Could literally feel the springs. Temperature in basement was 16 degrees celcius, and the termostat was turned off. We used the extra blankets that we found.
The kitchen was also a dissapoinment as the only pot avaiable was dirty with remnants of lobster.
I would recommend that the owner get some comfortable beds with newer bedding and hire a better cleaning staff.
The place is beautiful, as is the lake. Just need to improve a bit.

I booked this accommodation to celebrate my partner's 30th birthday. Unfortunately, our arrival set a disappointing tone. Even though I clearly communicated that five people would be staying for the weekend—with one additional guest joining us for dinner on Friday—the host immediately began interrogating us about the guest count upon arrival. When I reiterated our plans, her terse remark, “OK, since you were honest.” as if I were trying to deceive her. This interaction was not only unprofessional but made us feel unwelcome and completely took away the celebratory spirit of my partner’s birthday.
Additionally, the listing was misleading. Although it advertises that the property sleeps eight and is ideal for events of up to 30 people, key details were missing—a very small fridge, an extra charge for the sauna, and a kitchen that’s accessible only by passing through a bedroom.
All in all, what could have been a special birthday getaway was marred by an off-putting first impression from the host. I hope the host takes this feedback to heart by ensuring that the listing details accurately reflect the amenities and layout, and by providing a friendlier, more accommodating welcome for guests.
We stayed here for 2 nights while exploring Halifax. It was October so too cold to make use of the lake but the setting was lovely and peaceful. We were close enough to the highway to make an early morning trip back to the airport quick and easy. The basement walk-out is very spacious but it's also quite dated and the listing did not accurately represent the layout. Luckily it wasn't an issue for us but the fact that the kitchen can only be accessed through one of the bedrooms was odd and not ideal. The one bathroom is also quite dated and there was a definite damp mustiness throughoutThe hosts were very responsive and accommodating, happily allowing us to arrive earlier than the regular check-in.
