Luxurious, rustic, private vacation home with great view.

Voyager Rest is ideally located to enjoy the incredible beauty of wild wonderful West Virginia! It is situated on a private 7+ acre lot, within Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge - within Old Timberline gated resort community. It offers complete privacy, yet is just minutes from countless outdoor pursuits.

The interior of Voyager Rest is exquisitely finished with antiques and collectables from around the globe. It is truly one of a kind. It includes, a large stone wood-burning fireplace, oak beams, antique hardwood and slate flooring, stone showers, and granite counter-tops fitted with hand-made copper sinks. Two kayaks are available to guests; one at each lake (Please see orientation).

Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge was the 500th National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) to be established in the United States. The refuge preserves a moist valley with unique wetlands and uplands at a relatively high elevation in the Allegheny Mountains.

Note guests have access to fishing at (2) lakes within the Old Timberline community <5min from the cabin - no fishing license required within the community.

Nice property with beautiful and private surroundings. The eclectic decorations from all over the world make it feel like a museum. Jim was a helpful host and easy to get in contact with. We cooked most meals at the house. The kitchen is well equipped. Beds were comfortable.

Magic of nature

We love this VRBO cabin so much that we’ve stayed multiple times. Its eclectic decor adds to the enjoyment of our stay. It has plenty of space for our family and is located near some of the most beautiful natural sites in the world. Blackwater Falls, Seneca Rocks, etc. The views from the cabin are perfect for watching deer, sunsets, and enjoying nature.

Voyager’s Rest - Awesome Destination

What an incredible property. The appliances, amenities, and privacy are all top notch. In addition, the lakes at Timberline, the proximity to nearby attractions, and the access to stores, restaurants, and shops is really good.

Another Fantastic Stay

This home is so so special and we enjoyed another fantastic stay. Had great skiing weather a couple days, one day of rain but we played board games and enjoyed the hot tub. My 80 year old Mom slept till noon and I had to go wake her, the beds were so comfortable. Thanks again to Jim for such a fun place to take a wide range of people. We hated to leave!

Wonderful

Excellent property in Old Timberline. Pictures do not capture the eclectic decor. Easy access to the valley. Loved everything about this place and looking forward to another visit.

Voyager Rest indeed

Voyager Rest is a spectacular way to enjoy Timberline WV. The house is spacious (if you can work with 3 BRs), clean, well-designed, well-equipped (hot tub!), exceptionally well-decorated from the owner's trips to exotic places, and has nice views of the valley below.

Amazing stay at Voyager Rest

Beautiful, secluded and comfortable home. Home was unique and decorated with treasurers from around the world. We only left to grab some dinner take-out in the town of David. Spent majority of our time watching movies next to a warm fire. Loved the surround sound and the large stone shower downstairs. Slept in the loft room-super comfy! We plan to return next year! Thank you Jim!

Great place to relax after a day of adventure

My family (2 adults, 2 kids) and my parents had a fantastic time at the house, Voyager Retreat. The home is beautiful, very well built, which was reassuring during a winter storm with strong winds, and cozy. The decor is eclectic and enjoyable. The home amenities were perfect for our group and kept in great condition. The location is fantastic, secluded with a great view but also convenient to the local resorts. Hopefully we can return to enjoy a different season as I’m sure the summer and fall would be amazing.

Well stocked kitchen. Less than 10 min to Timberline. Very comfortable beds. Probably the best value VRBO we've had yet.

Great Chalet very close to Timberline Mtn ski area

Perfect place for a Christmas skiing holiday! The owner is great and communication with him was excellent. The seven acres around the Chalet made for a quite secluded retreat. Will stay there again, if the opportunity arises. Thank you for a wonderful Christmas!! holiday!

Perfect getaway for a long weekend in the mountains with the family! House was clean and cozy, location/view was beautiful, and Jim (Owner) was highly communicative - even suggested some great ideas for hikes! Definitely will return in the future.

Post election get away

Jim is a lovely and responsive host. The property is just as pictured on the website. The home is a treasure trove of objects from around the world. The bedrooms are comfortable and the kitchen has most all conveniences that we needed to prepare meals. We were there in early November, I'm sure it is even more beautiful during the summer and autumn months when you can enjoy the outside features.

Everything was great!

Beautiful views and everything about the house was perfect. Location within Timberlake offered many amenities. Jim Hopkins, the property manager, was responsive and eager to provide information to enhance our stay. The large property provided privacy and a perfect environment for our dogs. Can’t say enough. We returned to the area for several years, and this was the best.

Restful Stay at Voyageur's Rest

We had a great couple of days at Voyageur's Rest. The location was fabulous, with beautiful views of the valley and mountains and just minutes from the entrance to Timberline Mountain. The house was as described in the posting, with a great kitchen, comfortable living area, and an outdoor grill. The space was even bigger than we anticipated, with plenty of rooms and bathrooms. We spent a pleasant few hours in the hot tub enjoying the warmth and the view, and the myriad and varied decorations from all over the world made for a great game of "I spy".

Amazing hidden gem!

The beautiful, comfortable home with the stunning views are memories we cherish. The property is secluded and quiet. The working fireplace and hot tub was immensely enjoyed by all family members. The state of the art appliances made cooking so enjoyable. The host Jim, was extraordinarily easy to contact and dealt with having the driveway plowed the same day we called. We hope to return and look forward to spending more time at this lovely mountain home.

Tiny Castle in the Mountains…fit for a king

Despite the chilly weather, we enjoyed our stay tremendously. Or perhaps BECAUSE of the chilly weather? While we did get out to explore (Blackwater Falls and Canaan Valley State Parks) during the sunny days, we slept in late each morning and returned in the afternoon to curl up by the fireplace with books and music. We cooked all of our meals in the well-stocked kitchen and dined together “at home.” The beds were very comfortable and made with high quality linens. Showering was even a treat! The collections on display kept us entertained throughout our stay. I’m sure we didn’t take in everything over the three days. At night we relaxed in the hot tub, under the stars. We look forward to visiting again during a different season so we can see more of the local area.

Memorable, comfortable and interesting

What a crazy fun and memorable property! We loved the interesting books and antiques, the fantastic sound system, the epic hot tub with Mountain View, the pleasant decks, the stone fireplace with free firewood, and the isolated feeling on the property. Jim was very communicative and helpful. We totally want to come back! The kids also loved it. We had good times with Pictionary and the Greek chess board.

Amazing home & location!

We had a wonderful 3-night stay! The home is uniquely decorated, which was fun and interesting. We all enjoyed the stone showers and gorgeous views and sunsets off the back porch. The kitchen had everything we could want. This home is convenient to many surrounding spots we wanted to visit: Dolly Sods, Seneca Rocks, Canaan Valley Wildlife Refuge, and Blackwater Falls State Park. It is convenient to restaurants with some options within 10 minutes and more in Davis about 20 minutes away. We would absolutely stay here again. The owner was communicative and easy to work with and we appreciate him opening his home to share!

Stay at Voyager Rest

Voyager Rest is a fantastic place to stay at. It has a rustic look that is breath taking. the inside is rustic looking and has so many unique cultural displays on the walls from so many countries and time periods you are just mesmerized by it. The view from the balcony is astonishing, we saw deer, turkeys, and coyotes. The birds we saw and photograph was unreal and breath taking. Davis is a fantastic town to visit the shops and people are so friendly they make you feel like you have been apart of the community. We were greatly appreciative to the owner at Voyager Rest for his help and his wonderful hospitality highly recommend this VRBO to anyone and you will have awesome experience

Pure Bliss

I rented Voyager Rest along with a group of family and friends, some of which have been traveling to the Canaan Valley for 20+ years. I myself have visited a good many times over the past decade. Voyager Rest is hands down one of the best cabins you can rent in all of the valley. The places itself is amazing and perfectly curated, and the views are amazing. As if the cabin wasn’t already fantastic enough, the host, Jim, was genuinely the nicest and most attentive host I’ve come across. My group ran into some last-minute logistical issues the day before check-in, so I messaged Jim to ask about an early check-in. He called me within minutes to tell me that we could check in as early as we like, and also provided some info about the property and the amazing sound system in the cabin. Jim then proceeded to call me one or two more times to tell me about a few other things with the cabin, and also told us we could check out as late as we wished because no one was renting it the day we left. Start to finish, an all-around amazing experience. Already planning a return trip!
