"Perfectly situated for a tour of the Waterloo battlefield or, as in my case, a number of self-guided walks. My room was large enough for my needs and en-suite. The bathroom was a bit old fashioned and could do with some renovation. The shower is over the bath. First time I’ve had a shower curtain for a while! The connected Maximus restaurant, which serves both breakfast and dinner (and lunch also if you want it) is very good, food was excellent and beer was good!"

"Staff were amazing and spoke English which helped us greatly as we have language skills of German and Russian but no French. Fantastic food, great view of the gold course from the outside restaurant area. Definitely recommend even though now my partner wants to take up golf now."

Cottage 1815: Waterloo Battlefields

"We fell in love with this little chateau on the pictures and it didn't disappoint. The accomodation is spacious, well-maintained and clean. Parking was easy due to the included parking spot in the gateway. We were welcomed with a cute message on a board and cookies and the hosts were quick to respond and came by when we struggled locking the door. Basic equipment in kitchen and bathroom were there, you cannot expect a fully equipped cuisine though. Bedding and towels (including hand and kitchen towels) were a separate service that we didn't book, but the hosts were kind to remind us about that in the last message before our stay. Due to our relatively short stay and specific activity (concert), we didn't see much of the vicinity, but there were lots of travel guides and information sheets in the chateau. It's also very family-friendly with games and outdoor-space. We would gladly come back again and totally recommend this cute chateau. :-)"
