This rental is wonderful! The space, the furnishings, the management - all wonderful. An easy shuttle ride or walk to the beach and close to several restaurants, the property was perfect for us. And having the onsite washer/dryer was welcome, as we were on a long road trip.
The problem is with the Resort - The Palms of Destin. We visited in May and it could have been that - because it wasn't high season - services you would normally expect at a resort didn't exist.
There was no valet. We parked our own car, then slogged all our own suitcases, coolers, groceries, etc. on cheap roller caddies up to the 11th floor. We were on a long road trip, and our car was packed to the brim. Bonus - there are no automatic door openers on any of the doors - you know, the ADAA kind that will hold themselves open. It was difficult (to say the least) dragging two cheap roller caddies full of our stuff through doors that were determined to close on us.
There was no concierge. We wanted to go to the beach, but couldn't find the shuttle driver. The front desk guy told me, "That pamphlet there, it has his number, you can call him." Um, I'm on my way to the beach...I don't have my phone...how 'bout YOU call him?
Once at the beach, we only had use of the public beach - a narrow strip on an otherwise huge beach. Go early.
There was no poolside service (waiters happy to bring you overpriced drinks). The pool area was great: clean, well-kept, and not too crowded. But take your own towels.
