"The bedroom was nice, the owner and his dog were friendly, and the view was beautiful. But the Vrbo description did not clearly explain several deficiencies. First, the bathroom was not attached to the unit and was across a muddy field. Second, the shower was cold water only, which was very unpleasant on a 69 degree windy evening. Third, there was no A/C or heat in the unit. I don’t blame the owner for these deficiencies, I blame Vrbo for not having a clear description "

"The owners (different than the host) are the best! They made sure that we have everything we need to make our stay comfortable and stress-free as our house in Ka’u was damaged by Hurricane Lala. The Nene Room was beautiful, clean and peaceful with its large picture window overlooking the serene forest. We also stayed in Gecko room that has one bedroom, living room, and kitchen. "This hotel is more like a rental house than typical hotel. There are only eight or so rooms and each one has nice views with privacy. There is no staff on site but you can contact them is needed. I would stay here again. One thing to consider, you are 30 minutes from most services. If you don’t mind that and want something quiet this is a great option."

"The owner was very helpful with what I was trying to accomplish on the island while I stayed with her.. she gave me so much information concerning the area and places to visit.. ex: beaches parks. She made the most delicious pineapple muffins.. my choice for breakfast. She was prepared to make much more but I'm a light eater. I really loved staying there!"

"Liked: 1) The owner met us upon arrival and indicated where to park; 2) The “jungle-like” setting; 3) The quiet setting; 4) The cottage-like unit, especially the tree trunk columns; and 5) The papaya and fig bar “continental breakfast.” Not liked: 1) The lack of clear signage and way-finding; and 2) The mustiness of the unit."
