"Stayed one night at Dar Jasmine in Chefchaouen. Room was spacious, beautifully decorated, with an incredible view over the city. Staff were warm and helpful -even packed us a to-go breakfast for an early ferry departure.
Stairs: ~150-200 steps from the street up to the hotel, no alternate route. Not workable for anyone with mobility issues or unsteady footing - same goes for Chefchaouen's hillside streets generally.
Noise: Dogs bark/howl in the hills at night, more than once even in our one night. Not the hotel's fault, but light sleepers should bring earplugs.
Access: The main road was closed (partial collapse) during our stay, so we were dropped at an alternate point roughly a 10-min walk from the stairs. On arrival, midday in full sun, we opted for a tuk-tuk to cover that stretch instead of walking - glad we did. On departure, no tuk-tuk was available, so we walked it with a staff member rolling our bags. At this price point, we'd expect that arranged automatically both ways.
Pickup: We emailed asking for a driver to meet us off the Tarifa ferry, shop in Tangier, then bring us to Chefchaouen, + return pickup next morning. Hotel arranged it - very helpful. One hiccup: language barrier meant we didn't know our driver couldn't enter the port area, so we spent 30+ min finding him. Once connected, he was great. Ask for an exact meeting point.
Final: Beautiful, great staff, genuinely helpful with logistics - just confirm transfer details ahead of time & know stair commitment."
