The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we travel, but it hasn't dampened our lust for exploring. Here are some tips on how to handle travel's new challenges:

• Investigate if any travel restrictions apply to your origin and destination before booking anything. Also check if there are any requirements you'll need to follow on arrival, such as installing a contact tracing app.
• Wear a face mask even during airport screening. A TSA officer will require you to temporarily lower your mask to verify your identity.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA employee. Instead, place your pass on the scanner and then hold it up to allow the agent to visually inspect it.
• You are now permitted to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your hand luggage. You'll need to remove it for X-ray screening.
• Empty everything from your pockets, like your phone and wallet, and place them in your carry-on instead of the bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• Transport your food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Keeping your food separate from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA agent will need to open your bag for inspection.
