Welcoming and friendly

Very welcoming host and everything for a very enjoyable stay. Would recommend for anybody staying in this beautiful area. Was even offered a bacon butty to takeaway as i was out too early for breakfast each day, great service!

Liked everything about it. Staff were very friendly and helpfull,breakfast was very good and the room was comfortable . Very nice town centre location and parking nearby in the main town car park(free between 4.30pm and 10am)

The proprietor Duncan provided a right and proper welcome, helping us get oriented to the locale and answering our questions forthrightly. Two pet cats added a degree of hominess to the accommodation. We enjoyed the breakfast which was cooked to order and served by courteous staff. We thought the room rate was certainly fair and we wouldn't hesitate to book again if we were ever to venture back to Dogellau.

A good night's sleep and a tasty breakfast

Room 5 is right at the top of the stairs and has a small but adequate ensuite bathroom. It's a good sized double room with a view of the street. The bed was very comfortable and I slept really well. In the morning I was served an excellent breakfast and went on my way prepared for the day. Thanks to Duncan and the staff.

Sad b & b in surroundings of some poverty.

Sadly a very poor b&b. The cost of £85 per night was expensive for such a tired and grubby place. The garden and surrounds were frankly disgusting. If I was running your business I would ditch this place until it I said brought up to some reasonable standard. A three crown reference on the door indicated that the local tourist board think this is the place to be. They and their inspectors should be ashamed. Better still why don't they stay there...that would be interesting. A nearby car parked by us had a note on the screen saying that vandals were making their marks on cars staying in this vicinity. If I had had the opertunity to walk away with my £85 I would have.

It is a while since I have stayed in a guest house and it felt somewhat different to a hotel. I was greeted at the door and taken to my room however there was no offer to help with my bags up the narrow steep stairs. The room was well appointed if a little old fashioned, and comfortable. I wasn't too keen on the owner coming in the room with me though he had to later to look at the radiator. I was informed on arrival of breakfast time and also that I had to leave by 10.15 'at the latest' The room was a little chilly but a heater was brought up quickly. There was no blind on the bathroom window and I had no idea where it looked out so this felt a bit awkward. The cleanliness was great and the bed very comfortable. The location was in the town but quiet which was a bonus. Not easy to find a parking spot. Breakfast was served by a young lady, it arrived promptly and was good. I was pleased to see a 5 star hygiene rating. Overall a good experience I would say however I personally am not keen on the rather claustrophobic feel of a guest house as you are staying in the owner's home and it felt like it. It is a good spot for the town centre and for walking or various activities nearby. I was simply meeting friends a 3 minute walk away.

Bedroom and bathroom facilities were good and bedclothes and towels were top quality. It was within easy reach of pubs and restaurants with live music and friendly people. Dolgellau has a lot to offer for a couple who break their journey. We loved Ivy House and Margaret was most welcoming.
