The William Downie Manor, site of Downieville's first house (1849) is a newly constructed, large 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home overlooking the Downie River. Large kitchen with granite tile, stainless steel appliances. Dining and bar seating. Living room has sleeper sofa. Master bath spa tub and granite shower. Private upper deck, front deck seating area and BBQ. Sleeps up to 10 persons comfortably, but at this time we are only allowing 6 per night. Located within walking distance to town center. Peak/off-peak season weekly rates. 503 Main St. Book your vacation in this beautiful home!

Step back in time in beautiful Downieville
This property had plenty of space for our family getaway. The portable cribs we brought fit easily in the closets which made nap time easy. There were plenty of beds and bedding. As mentioned in a previous post the kitchen does not have a ton of supplies but with the large foil pans that we brought from home we had everything we needed to cook all our meals. The fridge had plenty of space and the ice maker worked great which was nice so we could fill up our water bottles for our daily hikes and river play. The use of the garage was also very handy since the streets are very narrow in Downieville. We had a car and a larger van that would not fit in the garage but we were able to park it just a short walk across the bridge. I had a few questions for the property owner before our arrival and it took a little bit for them to get back with me but we were able to get our questions answered and coordinate our check-in process a couple days before we arrived. When we arrived it seemed like no one had been in the place for a while so we found quite a few cobwebs and a few interesting bugs in the tub but they were easy to clean up. The carpet could have used a good vacuum, also. Despite the touch up that could have been done before we arrived we really enjoyed our stay in Downieville. It was such a fun historical town with amazing scenery everywhere. We went on hikes, kayaked and played in the river, visited the historical cemetery, and just enjoyed being together.

Beautiful location
Clean house with great location. You can go in the river and if you go for 30 min drive you can enjoy snow with beautiful view. This is a small town.

Great spot!
Downieville does not have cell service which is a fantastic thing! I was a bit worried as I was driving up that I would not be able to access the property. I reached out 24 hours before looking for clarification on how to get into the house. Jim gave me a call back just as I was getting into the mountains. Make sure you reach out if you do not hear from the owners. Other than that the property and location is fantastic. I’ll be there again!
