Dunchideock The church of St Michael and All Angels, and part of the neighbouring cluster of buildings, forms one group of the scattered village, on the side of a combe in the Haldon hills. Seen from the same place as 798493.

Field beside Webberton Wood. Looking across the field shown in 688125 and 688354, looking almost west down from the Haldon ridge towards the Shippen Brook valley and Doddiscombsleigh. The upper valley sides are covered in mist, which only lifted in the early afternoon.

View of Dunchideock Dunchideock is Celtic and means 'the wooded fort or camp,' possibly referring to the earthwork of Cotley Castle which is nearby. The church is a late 14th century building, restored in 1875-7 and 1889, when the chancel was rebuilt.
