It was a little noisy, you can hear your next door neighbours in the other room. Other than that the room was clean, the breakfast was fabulous and the spa experience was amazing
After a few initial hiccups with admin and maintenance - we enjoyed the Coastlands experience that we had become accustomed to. The GM and fontline manager went out of their way to ensure that the remainder of our stay was comfortable.
This hotel was recommended due to its proximity to the UKZN main campus. This is relative as the hills of Durban and distances mean walking is a no-no. The hotel is comfortable and clean, just note the lower-priced rooms overlook an outdoor common open space. Also, there is no real logic to the placement of light switches. It took me 10 minutes to turn off the lights in the room, as some stitches are in the strangest of places. The staff are pleasant and courteous.

The hotel is amazing and so is the vibe . However the receptionist Lola is very rude and has poor customer service. She refused to send someone up to clean the room . We had stayed over 2 nights. The phone in the room doesn't work . The management and service from the receptionist at at the restaurant was horrible. The place is amazing the staff though treat the guests terrible. Love the Spa tho 😇
I’d booked a specific room (upper floor, balcony etc). I’d stayed in this hotel before and know its layout. On check-in, reception attempted to palm me off with an inferior room (without offering me a price reduction). When I insisted on the class of room I’d booked, was told it would be ready in 15 mins. It wasn’t! Reception staff didn’t seem able to communicate with the cleaning staff. After an hour of waiting, I finally accepted a room slightly worse than I’d booked because I just couldn’t wait any longer. Room was fine.
The buffet breakfast also had some issues. First by SA standards it’s quite expensive at R230pp. For this I expect a good standard buffet. It was so-so, but in particular the coffee was awful. Essentially left sitting for a very long time in a flask, it was undrinkable. Freshly brewed coffee should be standard these days.
very bad check in expirence staff not willing to help booking was changed but they didnt know what was going on will not be booking here AGAIN

The front of house staff (the lady) was very passive and not welcoming. even on check out, she wasn't even interested in us at all. Dinner Buffet is over priced for non-classy food. The Bar has sells what is supposed to be cheap wine at a very high price
Very old property and staff not welcoming. AC not working and my room was dirty. This is not 1 start hotel. Orbitz shall remove this property from the platform.
For a 4 star hotel, our stay was very very disappointing. We booked this hotel because of the high reviews! We checked in on Friday night. When we got to our room, the locking mechanism was loose.& they had used nails to keep it in.The aircon was not working. We called reception to ask for a remote for the TV. It never arrived! On Saturday, the banging started at 7am. My hubby left at 8.30am. He stopped at reception. He told them about the TV remote & the aircon not working. He told them that the filter looked clogged with dust.I was still in bed relaxing.I put the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door. About 15 mins later there was a knock at the door. A man was at the door. He didn't greet me? He was dressed like a labourer. He asked me if we got the remote? I replied No?? He took it out of his pocket and gave it to me... About 5 mins later, I received a call from House keeping. The lady said, "you asked for your room to be made up. But u have the" Do Not Disturb sign on the door". I replied that we never asked for house keeping. She replied to me, "do u expect us to wait outside your door???" I replied "excuse me? Who do u think u r speaking too?" She replied "sorry!!" & ended the call. That was really rude. No one came to fix the aircon at all. The room was clean. The towels were old and thread bare. The curtains had holes. There was an ironing board but No Iron. The only positive experience was the Spa!.The ladies were friendly and accommodating. We will Never stay here again.
It was lovely, hotel just needs more porters and need to allocate higher floor rooms to those who book them because i was given a lower floor when i booked highest, but other than that was amazing :)
Everything was amazing, i will definitely go back.

Upgrade the tv and channels,generic
The hotel is quite classy and u expect everything to be classy in the rooms. The tv channels and tv in the room must be upgraded. If you have kids they get bored. Remotes dont work. Tv channels dont work. Airconditioning is very noisy. The room plugs trip very easily. They are aware of the electricity tripping issue, upto them to resolve it. Otherwise a good hotel. Comfortable in the room. Very clean and the staff are ever willing to help. Good service
1stly, when we arrived from jozi, my husband had to sit in the vehicle until there was parking available so basically waiting there for some1 to decide to leave. When we did reach da room, we opened the door and was hit with a stench, it came from the toilet. We had to open windows to get rid of it.. the room itself was really small but I guess its wat was meant by a standard room but the condition of it was terrible. There were stains on the wall and on the lampshades. The curtains were ripped in certain places, the bed totally uncomfortable, and there was a globe just laying around on my pedestal.. I awoke in da morning with serious back pains n so did my husband.never again..
What kind of made up for the terrible experience was the breakfast and the staff serving there plus the helpful security guards. Thank you guys. I gave it a 2 star cos of you guys.
I stayed at the hotel due to its convenient location and price point. I have stayed at the hotel before. It has been a while since my last stay and I found that the hotel has deteriorated quite a bit. It seems to lack any sort of maintenance. Very run down and not 4 definitely star. Room safe was not working, but I was too tired to call and have my privacy invaded while they repair it. Couldn't get hold of reception telephonically to enquire about a different matter. Had to call a few times. Breakfast service was good. Generally hotel requires a revamp.
