"Great location right in the centre of Stellenbosch with free parking and a great breakfast. Staff were super helpful and really pleasant. The property itself is showing some signs of wear & tear and probably needs a bit of money spending on it to ensure it doesn’t slip down the list!"

"A beautiful hotel with lots of local character. Staff were so friendly and helpful, delicious breakfast. Very close to the cafes and shops of Stellenbosch and felt very safe, which was important to me as a solo female traveller."

"Fantastic place. My only regret is not having more time to spend here.
Short walk to the botanical gardens (down the block). One block further are plenty of dining options.
The breakfast is solid."

"Excellent location in Stellenbosch, with very good value for money. Very useful free parking. Spotlessly clean room, good air-conditioning, and helpful staff. The included breakfast is just ok, but there are nicer options in the restaurants nearby. I'd happily stay here again."

"Far better than the impression you get from the photos on Expedia. Lovely spacious suite with private pool terrace. Very well appointed. Comfortable firm bed. Great hotel service. Food in the restaurant good not great - service a little confused too. Especially odd was the mismatch between the names of the dishes on the menu and what you actually get. "
"What A Wonderful World. We were made so amazingly welcome at the Van der Stel Manor in Stellenbosch! Large, comfortable room, bed with electric blanket for the cool, early spring evenings .. and chocolates too. Great shower. Outstanding breakfast, in a beautiful room in the historic house. We really enjoyed our stay: thank you so much to all the wonderful staff. Will definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to come back to Stellenbosch. Highly recommended to others."

"A lovely room with modern, interesting decor. Everything needed was provided e.g. teas, coffees etc.
Reception was incredibly helpful and couldn't do enough for you
Breakfast was incredible! All ordered from a menu, but a very wide range of choices, and the ability to have whatever you'd like (French toast is to die for!)
Location is brilliant as well - a seven minute walk to all the main restaurants in town!
The only complaint is their strict cancellations policy. We had to reshuffle our whole holiday by three days due to my husband's work, and this was the only hotel out of seven across Cape Town and the Garden Route that didn't refund us at all, despite weeks of notice. This was a shame, but the hotel is lovely nonetheless. "
"My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at Coopmanhuijs while in Stellenbosch. It was fantastic! The staff was super friendly and acommodating. The restaurant was outstanding. Our reservation included breakfast and we were able to order off of a menu and/or opt for the generous buffet. We also ate dinner at the restuarant and it was beyond delicious. (Springbok carpaccio!) We don't usually relax in common hotel spaces, but everyone was so welcoming that we did spend some time in the lounge by the fire. We met some other guests who were super interesting, and I felt like I learned a lot about South Africa culture as well. Thank you for a lovely stay!"
