Fantastic Stay!
We loved our stay at Gabe’s Getaway. Property is very clean and perfectly situated close to Eagle River but with plenty of peace and quiet. Owners are so accommodating and communicative. We would rent here again in a heartbeat. Lake is absolutely beautiful- it was too cold for swimming (October) but it’s perfect if you come in the summer. Sandy bottom, steps for easy access to the lake, plenty of water toys, and with the shallow water it’s perfect for families with kids.

Beautiful woodsy location
The property is so pretty, surrounded by trees, and the pier is the perfect place to watch the sun set over the lake. The kitchen is well-stocked for cooking dinner, and the beds are very comfortable. Our only wish would have been to watch some television late-night, but there was absolutely no t.v. reception.

Tambling Lake Cabin
We enjoyed our stay at the Tambling Lake cabin. It was so nice to get away and relax for a few days. The cellular (and tv antenna) reception was very spotty so it limited us to our electronics, which was what we needed anyway. Dinner and sunsets on the dock was wonderful. The pontoon rental was such a bonus! We took advantage of it and fished around the lake as much as we could.

Labor Day Weekend Getaway
Sally and Joe went above and beyond with their hospitality, communication and friendliness. We left saying this was one of our favorite places we have ever visited. The house was extremly clean and equipped with everything you need. We also rented the pontoon boat at a very reasonable cost and had a great time fishing, swimming in the clean sand bottom lake and star gazing. We are couting down the days until we can visit again!

Our family had a wonderful time at this cabin on a peaceful lake. The kids had a great time catching fish. We were able to enjoy using the pontoon, kayak and paddle boats. Wonderful hosts who take very good care of their property and guests!

Enjoyable Lake Experience
We had a wonderful time during our 2-week stay here. My sister and brother-in-law joined us for a few days and all of us especially enjoyed sitting at the table on the dock with our morning and evening beverages. Spent a lot of time on the lake fishing and relaxing. The pontoon boat was great! Sally & Joe were terrific hosts!

Great Stay!
We really enjoyed our stay......the location was quiet even on a busy holiday weekend, but was close to town. The cabin had a northwoods feel, was comfortable and met all our needs......the pier was a really nice surprise; nice stairs to the sandy bottom to cool off and for our daughter to play in. We also took advantage of the pontoon rental.....which worked out really well. Joe and Sally were great, and overall we had a really good stay!

WONDERFUL HOME!
Gabe's Getaway is a a wonderful cabin. It is our 2nd time staying at the cabin and we really enjoyed it. The fishing is very good and the lake is so clear! Joe and Sally are great to work with and are incredibly nice people. We had fun fishing, cruising around the lake, and having several campfires. We will definitely return!

Paradise in the North Woods

Amazing Stay
Our week at Gabe's was just what we were looking for. The Cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. There were games, puzzles and movies to fill in the time we were inside. The outside was beautiful with great sun sets. The paddle boat, kayaks, canoe were a nice addition along with the option to rent the pontoon boat. The fishing was good and the water was so clear. Off the pier the sandy bottom and shallow water is perfect for kids. We also enjoyed being close to town and enjoyed the Go-karts. Joe and Sally were great and very helpful. Their hospitality really made you feel like you were at home. Thank you for the perfect week, we will be back next year.

Great Vacation
Plenty of room and lots of amenities at this beautifully wooded location.. Grandkids were excited to see deer in the yard and loons on the lake. Everyone had fun on the pontoon, kayaks and canoe. The sunsets were awesome. There is a lot to do here with swimming and fishing during the day and campfires at night. We plan on booking this again next year.

Fantastic cabin and hosts
We had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend, despite the rain on Saturday. The cabin has all the comforts of home, all you need to bring is food. And it is close enough to town if you do forget something you can run and puck it up. Our grandchildren loved the pontoon boat and the lake is the perfect size. Communication with Sally is so quick and easy. We would 100% recommend this cabin to anyone interested in a fantastic vacation.

Gabe's Getaway
Gabe's Getaway was exactly what we wanted and needed! Sally and Joe were perfect hosts. Everything we needed was in the cabin. The lake is small, quaint, beautiful and quiet. Plus you simply can't beat western views on the lake to enjoy the sunsets. We went out regularly on the paddle boat and my oldest son even swam on two different occasions. We got lucky with the weather as it was in early Oct. I highly recommend this cabin and have absolutely nothing negative to say about it! It's very close to Eagle River about 5 minutes or so to the east. Off the main path but still close enough to be convenient to town. Thanks again Sally and Joe for being so hospitable. Little Gabe definitely wants to come back next year and take your pontoon boat out for another spin! Pete

Best Get a Way
This was one of our best rentals yet! Sally and Joe are incredibly kind and helpful. The property has the best layout - privacy, pine trees, grill, firepit, great new dock...you name it. The paddle boat and pontoon were fabulous. We had the entire lake to ourselves almost every time we went out. We saw ample squirrels, deer and woodpeckers around the property. There is also so much to do in the area. You cannot go wrong with choosing Gabe's Getaway. Only thing to note - if you plan on cooking, bring your own spices/S+P/foil, etc. (all other cooking supplies you could need are in the cabin!). We would come back here in a heartbeat.

Can't say enough great things about this beautiful well kept home and property. Sally and Joe the hosts went out of there way to make sure our experience was special. Thank You! We rented the pontoon for fishing and it was well maintained and fun. Sally clued us in on the local events and places to eat. She was right on! We have booked it for next year...can"t wait!!

Reliving happy memories
Having grown up spending summers in the Northwoods, Gabes Getaway gave me the feeling of reliving my youth. I remember the smell of the pines and a similar knotty pine cabin from my childhood. My grandkids, my daughter and her husband, and my husband enjoyed campfires, boat rides, fishing and kayaking all in this beautiful setting. We had everything we needed, even games for a rainy day. Thanks Sally, Joe, and Gabe for giving us the opportunity to get away to such beauty...AND for giving me the chance to ' go back in time.'

Beautiful home in Eagle River!
We loved our stay! The house had a cabin feel with all the comforts of home. It is so well maintained and very roomy. The decor is so charming and the home is well stocked. The owners were very helpful and responsive. The lake is beautiful and we really enjoyed the use of the boat. We loved hanging out at the dock and playing in the water. We have great memories from our time spent in Eagle River.

Restful stay on Tambling in a marvelous cabin
We have stayed numerous times in various properties in and around Eagle River, WI. This cabin was the best maintained and decorated so far. The hosts were personable, informative and available (they live on the same lake). And we discovered the husbands had gone to the same college, Go DuHawks! We rented the pontoon boat and used it nearly daily, including just sitting and reading under the shade. We also used the canoe most days and the paddle boat once, everything in excellent condition. The cabin was spotless and everything functioned. The decor was comfortable and very 'Up North-ish'. The host and hostess are a class act. This is a great retreat for couples, families and anyone who wants to tune out the outside world for a while. We may be back!

Great lake, great cabin
This is a comfortable cabin in a great location. The lake is beautiful and fairly quiet, the sunsets are spectacular, and the dock and property are in top shape. We kayaked and hiked in the area, where there are many great options in the National forest. It felt like a real gem, and the owners are nearby and very helpful. Highly recommended!

The Great North Woods
If you are looking for a peaceful retreat in Wisconsins North Woods, this is it. Lovely wooded lot and home facing the lake, which is very quiet (at least in October). You just have to show up and enjoy.

AWESOME CABIN!
Our first visit to Gabe's Cabin was absolutely outstanding! The cabin itself is incredibly clean and cozy and the layout is perfect. The hosts, Joe and Sally, went above and beyond making sure everything was right and answered all of our questions. Their son, Gabe is very well versed on the lake for fishing. His tips and pointers enabled us to catch many bass and northern. Thank you, Gabe! The pontoon boat is very well maintained and ran like new. This is the perfect get-a-way for fishing, campfires, and loads of R&R! Definitely a diamond in the rough. We will return in the future! Thanks!

Great spot on a quiet lake close to town
Nice property and well kept. Cabin worked great for the family. Fully stocked fire pit and lots of boats - paddle, canoe, kayak. Pontoon was the best part, but does cost extra. Hosts are super friendly and quick to respond, even while there. It was a perfectly relaxing week.

Sally and Joe are great hosts. Their three bedroom cabin is a wonderful, quiet place on a private lake in north central Wisconsin; a perfect spot for our sibling retreat. No shortage of things to do - kayaking, fishing, swimming...and the nightly pontoon cruises were awesome!

Very nice cabin. Location was great, lots of privacy. Close to town but still far enough away for peace and quiet. Plenty of options to eat close by. Definitely would recommend.

Amazing cabin on the lake
This cabin w/the pontoon rental was amazing! It was exactly what my little family needed. Close to town, yet you feel like you are in your own little piece of the woods. The lake was crystal clear, great fishing & just beautiful. Sally & Joe were great as well. Very welcoming & made sure you had a good time. We would love to rent this place again! My daughter celebrated her b-day and Sally & Joe made her feel special by getting her a present! Overall I cannot say enough good things about the cabin or Sally & Joe.

We had a wonderful week at the Tambling Lake cabin! Owners are super nice and make sure you have everything you need. Weather was perfect. We enjoyed the crystal clear lake for swimming, fishing and cruising around on the rented pontoon. Cabin was very clean and fully stocked with everything needed to enjoy the week. We loved sitting around the fire pit almost every night and enjoyed s’mores compliments of the owners. If you need a relaxing week to get away From everything this is the place to go! Beautiful, peaceful calm and relaxing
We had an amazing time at Gabe's Getaway! The cabin is very home like and comfortable for our family. The owners of the cabin were very accommodating and easy to work with. The grill ran out of gas while were were cooking our dinner. We made a phone call to Sally and Gabe and within a few minutes they can to our rescue!! We enjoyed fishing, swimming, bonfires, smores as well as a few activities in Eagle River!! We rented a pontoon boat for 3 days and used this for our fishing. We caught alot of sunfish, some small and large mouth bass and even a small northern pike!! One night coming home from a sunset boat ride we were welcomed home by Whitetail deer who came right up onto the property. It was a beautiful site!! If you are looking for a place to unplug, rest and relax this is the place for you!! Very quiet and peaceful and worth every minute we cant wait ro return next year!!

We couldn't ask for better place then this
We spend memorial day weekend over here and we loved it, the place was nice and cleaned and had everything that you need in the house, plenty of room, well organized. The outside was incredible beautiful, quiet and peaceful, just like we want it, we spent most of the time outside fishing from the dock, the kids caught plenty of blue gills and my 11 years old daughter caught 23 inches, almost 10 lb big bass, she was THRILLED. We also were fishing from the row boat and the paddle boat that was included with are stay to use. Since the weather was so nice and warm (85° all weekend) we had so much fun swimming in the lake, the bottom of the lake was sandy and very clean, also the owner let us use the pantoon for one day, that was awesome, overall it was great place to get out of the city life and enjoy the outdoors living in the woods. Looking forward to book this place on my next long weekend getaway. Thank you

My family of 4 including 2 college aged kids had a fabulous stay at this cabin. My son fished for 5 days from the yakak my daughter and I canoed every morning and evening. Enjoyed the wild life , scents of pine trees and relaxful setup. All you have to do is show up ! Went to performing arts center in three lakes one evening and enjoyed Celtic and Scottish music. My husband was able to forget for a few days that's he's battling cancer . And so did the rest of the family ! Thanks

Good location, well-maintained, clean and welcoming
Went with my wife and 4 and 6 yo sons. Nice house, plenty of space for us. Wish the weather had been better but the property had plenty of rainy weather supplies to use if weather was poor. My boys really enjoyed the dock and canoe and had plenty of space to run around outside and found lots of sticks to play with. Fished some off the dock and caught lots of sunfish with worms. Looks like a great place to swim but we didn't do much since it was too cold. Had a heating problems and owners were very responsive. We'd go again!
