"Hotel was on the quay and is a Pub with rooms. Room we had was a family room so more spacious. Dinner was good and well priced. Kirkwall is a small town so you are near everything from this location."

"The was a very comfortable and cozy hotel. I had a great time here. I found it impeccably clean, and the cleaning staff was very friendly and helpful. It's walking distance from the downtown shopping area, but still pretty quiet. There is a lovely lounge and bar area that is very comfortable and welcoming. The shower worked very well too. I would love to stay here again!"

"This was a pleasant cottage with parking in front. It was nicely decorated and beds were very comfortable.It was five minutes from a co-op food shop which opens seven days a week 7 am to 10 pm. Almost opposite the bus station and a two minute walk to the ferry. Bike hire is available in Stromness. And we had a great day taking the ferry over to hoy, cycling to Rackwick Bay and walking to see the old man of hoy sea stack. The cottage includes a small washing machine which we did use (only once…). The kitchen is adequately stocked are not like some holiday cottages which have cupboards full of stuff you will never use. I stayed with my daughter so there were only two of us, but clearly this could increase to 4 people. With four people, I think the kitchen might prove to be a little cramped at the dining table. "

"Pros: Friendly staff. Fantastic English breakfast. Great location, walking distance from the ferry terminal and all stores near the Stronmess waterfront. Even without an elevator, the parking location made it easy to access the room. Beds were clean and comfortable. Showers had nice high water pressure that gave a massage feeling. Cons: The building is historic, so the floors had older carpet. Newer flooring, e.g. newer carpet or luxury vinyl plank could improve the stay experience. Parking area had mosquitos after the rain. Mosquito counter measures may have been helpful. E.g. Spaying, stratgeically placed zappers, torches, etc... This was our first visit to the Orkney islands. We visited in August. Insect repellant is highly recommended when visiting certain areas on the island. The local people were all very friendly. Overall, the Stromness hotel was a great experience. My family and friends all had a fun time. We would stay at this hotel again if we were to visit the Orkney Islands."
