"I love this hotel. The rooms, location and very friendly staff have made this one of my favorite hotels. At the moment they have construction going on so I just spent the weekend to avoid the noise"

"Check in was fast and easy. I called ahead for an early check in and they were able to accommodate and upgraded our room in doing so. The location was better than expected, we didn’t have to step outside to view the sunset. We enjoyed the view right from the living room. It was a short walk for breakfast at the museum cafe and lunch or dinner on Prospect St. We loved the beach towels available for guests and the cute sundeck where others gathered. The room was so convenient with stove, toaster, and the kitchen sink!! It was a delightful stay - we are definitely coming back."

"Phenomenal stay! We paid extra to have a room with the balcony overlooking the ocean and it was worth every penny. We stayed with our 16 month old and 6 year old who absolutely loved this hotel. "

"It is one of the most outdated hotel I have ever stayed . Considering the price , I would say the value is pretty low. The hotel management should really consider some renovation . "

"Wasn't told from Expedia that hotel was going to be under construction and parking lot was closed. Parking had to be done through valet which I didn't mind but not being to access my vehicle right away was definitely not fun. Overall staff was understanding of the situation but the construction needs to be disclosed from either the hotel or Expedia."

"This hotel is very unique and once you enter it and are on the grounds, you feel like you could be in Paris, Barcelona, side streets of London. It is such a little boutique, wonderful spot with great service and the difference between all those other places is la Valencia has unbelievable ocean views. Our room was Via Eleven and it was marvelous spotless, and a very good size with a beautiful patio overlooking the park in the ocean. The concierge and the front desk staff were great. We were loved the valet guys and they made us laugh so we felt right at home. I would definitely recommend this hotel. "

"Staffs were friendly and cordial. Parking (valet) was easy. Location is great! You can simply walk to the La Jolla Cove from the hotel. I really recommend this hotel if you are going to La Jolla/San Diego."

"The staff was nice but the hotel was not as advertised. The photos make the place look really nice but the inside was just okay. The bottom of the bathroom walls were falling apart, the wall paper was peeling off the walls, and the floors looked dirty in the bathroom. They did not have central air and only had this ductless air system that made a fairly loud buzzing sound. The bed was comfortable. The walls must be very thin because the next door neighbor called the front desk to complain about too much noise coming from our room when we were watching TV at a fairly low level. Last but not least there are a few rooms that are accessible from outside the building. I like to be inside the building at a hotel and was not aware I would be put in a room outside which I did not like for safety reasons. If you are just looking for a hotel with a good location this is a great option but the room itself left a lot to be desired. "
